LORAC Close Up

August 30, 2013 | Beauty, LORAC | 2 Comments »

In case you couldn’t tell, I sure do love me some LORAC! If I was to run off to an island and could only pack ONE palette with me, it would definitely be one of my LORAC palettes. In fact when I went on vacation just last month I took one of my LORAC trios. And on top of that I went crazy looking for that gorgeous GLOgetter Palette. What can I say? I’m a bit of a fan girl.

I grabbed the LORAC Close Up: Real Life To Red Carpet Natural To Dramatic Face Tutorial for the LORACstar trio. I had no idea I was in for such a treat. The Front of the Line PRO Eyeliner has become my go to liner. I like to apply my liner finely and this pen is by far the easiest giving me even precise strokes every single time! I’m also digging the Multiplex 3D Lashes Mascara. The Blush and Couture Shine Liquid Lipstick are winners as well! And here I thought I’d end up giving the rest of the set away because all I REALLY wanted was that trio. Turns out I love everything and even found some new favorites!

Below you can see photos of me wearing everything in this set. And I love every bit of it.

My father bought me this badass palette for my upcoming birthday (early birthday present, yo!). I don’t really own any other Too Faced products, but this one really stood out. I just knew it would be a great addition to my collection. When I first opened this palette I was a little intimidated. Usually I open a palette and grab my brushes and just get to work. But this palette really stopped me in my tracks. HOW do I go about wearing this? I was stumped. I took my search to the interwebz and came across this pretty look. I don’t usually use others looks as inspiration (mostly because I’m afraid I won’t get it right), but I really needed help here and the look was too pretty not to try. I really love the color combo. I never would have thought to pair the gold with the darker blue. But they look great together! And of course I didn’t exactly nail it, but I was still pleased with the look I was able to create. You can see that look below.

The shadows swatched beautifully and I found that they applied just as beautifully on the lids. They’re so pigmented… vibrant! They were soft and blended easily. My look lasted all day with very little to no creasing or fading. I can tell I’m going to have a lot of fun experimenting with this palette. Now if I could only master that darn winged liner. I’m so scared to make that line any thicker. Practice makes perfect, right?

My wonderful husband surprised me with this gorgeous palette last week. I rarely splurge on high-end brands myself so anytime you do see a high-end brand featured on this blog, it’s because my hubby has been spoiling me.

This is actually my first Dior palette. I’ve seen swatches of some of the other palettes and while I thought they were pretty I felt they were too soft for my liking. But this one really stood out. The pattern/design is what first caught my eye, but when I swatched it for myself I just had to make it mine. The shadows are nicely pigmented and I didn’t have to build them up much to achieve the look I was going for. The texture is soft and sort of velvety. It blended wonderfully and lasted about 7 or so hours before it started to noticeably fade and slightly crease. You can see a look I created with this gorgeous palette below. I’m wearing the 4th shade on my lid, the 3rd shade in my crease, the 2nd shade on the inner corner of my eye and brow bone, the 1st shade on my lower lash line, and an entirely different brand as my highlighter. And since I was lucky enough get some Rouge Dior Lipcolor samples I decided to complete the look with shade 999.
