Kiesque Liquid Palisade

Kiesque Liquid Palisade

Can you believe how fast this year went by? I think I had a pretty great year here at Midwest Glam. Even with everything that has happened in my personal life I still managed to keep things going. Yet I can’t figure out how I can be caught up and so far behind at the same time. There’s still so much I’d like to post before the year is up. I was hoping to do a special Blogiversary post. I’d like to do a 2017 favorites. I still haven’t done my updated makeup storage post. The new setup in the new place is really nice! And I’ve only been living here for a full 6 months now! I’ll have to make these a priority. Here’s to hoping I can get them done before the year is up.

Today I’m going to talk about this sweet giveaway I won a little over a week ago. I’m really excited because I never win giveaways. I’ve entered enough of them, but over the years this is probably only my second win. It was a collaboration between Kiesque and ittse. I’m going to split this giveaway win up into two posts. Today will focus on the goodies I received from Kiesque.

I received two products from Kiesque. I received their Liquid Palisade Original and French Manicure. This fast-drying liquid protects cuticles from stains during nail polish application. You apply it before you apply your nail polish and simply peel it away afterward for a mess-free manicure. They claim it’s like painter’s tape for your nails. The Original has a thicker brush that keeps your cuticles polish-free. The French Manicure has a thinner brush that helps you create the perfect French tip or custom nail art. It sounds interesting, huh?

First, there are a few things you need to know. I have incredibly short nails. I don’t have a whole lot to work with so I can’t always get fancy with the nail art. Also, I’m pretty bad at painting my nails. I’m pretty good at keeping polish off of my cuticles, but sometimes I leave too much space and my nails end up looking half painted. So I was pretty excited to give these products a try.

  • The instructions suggest applying a generous coat. It will take longer to dry, but they claim it will be easier to remove in one peel. I only had to apply one coat. I’m not sure if it’s just that I have tiny fingernails or what. But I didn’t have any issues removing it.
  • It does take quite a while to dry. Even with a single coat. However, it’s worth the wait.
  • You can easily tell once it’s dry. It changes from a pale pink color to a deeper pink/purple. See my photo for reference. At this point you can shape it however you want. You can push it back further with a manicure stick in case you got too much on your nail.
  • Once you apply your polish, remove the Liquid Palisade. You have to do this while the polish is still wet. I didn’t have any issues and my polish didn’t smear.
  • If you’re going to create a French tip, you have to create a ‘tab’ by applying some of the Liquid Palisade on your finger so that you can easily remove it after polish application.
  • The bottles are very light and flimsy. They do knock over easily. However, I didn’t experience any spilling.
  • For $14.00 a bottle you really don’t get a whole lot of product. It might not be so bad if you can get away with one application per nail. But if you have to apply a few coats you could probably go through a bottle pretty fast.

Overall, I really enjoyed both products. I found them to be very easy to work with. My only issue would have to be the bottles. I wish they were a bit more sturdy. But it’s not enough to keep me from purchasing another bottle once I run out. I’ll just have to be extra careful with the bottles during application.

Have you heard of Liquid Palisade from Kiesque? Is this something you would try out?

*I received these products from a giveaway. I was not paid or compensated in any way to write this review. All opinions are completely my own.

Play! by Sephora: November 2017

Play! by Sephora: November 2017

Play! by Sephora: November 2017

I didn’t get to post last month’s Play! by Sephora box due to personal issues which is why I skipped over October. I don’t think it was all that great anyway. At least I don’t think it was. To be honest I don’t remember what I got. This month is a good one though. Let’s see what I got!

First up is the Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara. It claims to be an ultra volumizing mascara that delivers instant dimension for epic lashes. I haven’t tried much from Marc Jacobs Beauty so it was nice to experiment a little more with the brand. However, I wasn’t crazy about the brush. It’s very chunky and oddly shaped. Because of that I couldn’t really coat all of my lashes evenly. I’m not really a fan of this one.

I love Origins! I love them so much that I don’t even mind getting a repeat item. Like the Origins Clear Improvement® Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores. It’s an ultra purifying charcoal mask that deep cleans and visibly reduces pores. The sample size is pretty generous too!

The Moroccanoil Moroccanoil Treatment is an argan oil hair treatment that conditions, protects, and adds shine to your strands. I ended up giving this to my mother-in-law and she loves it!

I think the SEPHORA COLLECTION Ultra Shine Lip Gel in 04 Perfect Nude was the least exciting item in this month’s box. While I have been rocking lip gloss these days, this one just doesn’t scream new and exciting to me.

I was very excited to see the Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum included in this month’s box. I’ve received a few other Caudalie products in past boxes and loved them all. I’m hoping this oil free serum will be another winner. It sure does sound promising! It’s infused with grape water to boost hydration and soothe even the most sensitive skin.

And this month’s fragrance is BURBERRY My Burberry Blush. I’m not usually big on floral scents, but this was pretty nice. I think it’s balanced out nicely with some of the fruity notes. It’s a little on the sweet side, but overall very pretty.

Swatches: Universal, Flux, Zodiac, Dust, Fawn

This is my very first Morphe purchase. I admit, I’m not really a fan. So even when something may have caught my eye I just kept it moving. Until I saw swatches of this beauty. I knew I had to cave and make it mine.

For a new release it shipped pretty fast. I was also very impressed with the packaging. It came wrapped in lots of bubble wrap. There was no way this baby was moving around. When I opened the palette I couldn’t help but smile. She sure is pretty!

The 3502 Second Nature Eyeshadow Palette contains 35 eyeshadows. It’s a really nice mixture of mattes and shimmers. I personally like seeing more mattes than shimmers these days so this palette is right up my alley. I love the more wearable shades with a few pops of color thrown in. While the first thing to come to mind was BOLD, you can just as easily create a nice neutral look.

I was also pretty impressed with the quality. The shimmers are all very creamy and pigmented. A lot of the mattes are nicely pigmented, but do require a bit of building up. You can probably make out which ones by looking at the swatches. A few performed much better than the others. Small issues aside, they all blended out beautifully. Well, the shades I’ve used anyway. You can see a look I created with the Morphe 3502 Second Nature Eyeshadow Palette below.

Overall, I’d have to say it’s a beautiful palette. My only real issue would be the scent. When I open the palette I’m hit with a bit of a chemical scent. I definitely notice it during application, but it doesn’t linger or anything. I also wish there were a few brow bone shades. You’d think with so many shades included in this palette I wouldn’t have to reach for another palette for a wearable brow bone shade. Other than that I’m pretty happy with my purchase and it has definitely put Morphe on my radar.
