Y’all are probably wondering what’s going on around here? Well, I’m still here and trying very hard to rework my routine. Since I’ve started working my life has been sort of turned upside down. I work a retail job and if you’ve ever worked retail you know how it can be. Hours are sort of all over the place, they ask you to work extra shifts, and then there’s the constant schedule changes. It makes planning challenging. For the most part I work nights. My plan was to wake up early, do my housework, run errands, and then do a quick look for my blog posts. But my housework and errands take up so much time and before I know it I’m left with just one hour to get ready for work.

It’s a lot. But this is good for me. It’s forcing me to do things that terrify me. Like drive. Long story short, my husband bought me a car about 2 months ago. It sat in my garage for weeks. Finally I decided enough was enough and before I knew it I was driving myself to my new job. Being in the Midwest makes driving that much more interesting. One minute you’re dodging tornadic-like weather and the next you’re trying to maneuver your way around a tractor that’s taking up the entire road without driving yourself into a ditch. I’ve had my license since I was a teenager, but never actually drove. I’d rather not go into detail, but it was always a fear of mine. I don’t expect people to understand. Many don’t and the expressions on their faces when I tell them about it is a dead giveaway. But it’s ok. We all have fears and we might not understand what the other person has had to deal with. But I’m not going to allow it to control me anymore.

So what does this mean for Midwest Glam? Well, I don’t plan to quit my job or this blog any time soon. I just have to be better with managing my time. I’ll probably go down to blogging just once a week while trying to be more active on Instagram and Facebook. I will try to get back to my twice a week blogging schedule, but for the time being I can only manage to get out the one post. That being said, here is my post for the week!

Back in April I posted about the Jouer Lip Topper in Sweetheart. It still remains a favorite of mine. I ended up purchasing Sweet Tooth along with Sweetheart. Sweet Tooth was a collab between Jouer and Jeffree Star. So you just know I had to get it!

Jouer Lip Topper in Sweet Tooth

Sweet Tooth is described as a metallic shimmering candy pink. Like Sweetheart, you can wear this Lip Topper on its own or layered on top of your favorite lipstick. I usually wear it alone, but I can see this looking extra glamorous layered on top of a nice deep pink or berry shade. It applied beautifully. I found that it didn’t last nearly as long as Sweetheart, but touching up was very easy. It was a very comfortable wear and didn’t feel sticky at all. You can see Sweet Tooth in action below. In my photo I’m wearing just one layer of Sweet Tooth.

Jouer Lip Topper in Sweet Tooth

Overall, I’d have to say that I love Sweet Tooth. Surprisingly I ended up loving Sweetheart more, but Sweet Tooth is still beautiful and a great Lip Topper.

Swatches

After my last experience with Wet n Wild I was hesitant about purchasing the full Flights of Fancy Collection Box. Instead I spent what little free time I did have trying to track down a few of the products I wanted to try in person. I was only able to find two products. One of them is the Color Icon Eyeshadow Quad in Hasta La Costa Baby. I was hoping to get Flock Party as well, but I haven’t been able to find it yet.

Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Quad in Hasta La Costa Baby

Hasta La Costa Baby contains 4 eyeshadows. The shades look really pretty and colorful and really called to me. They swatched beautifully! For the most part they applied just as nicely. However, the crease and eyelid shades didn’t really pop. I ended up applying the eyelid shade on my lower lash line and the crease shade in my outer crease. I applied the eyelid shade with a dampened brush thinking it would pop more, but it didn’t. It just ended up looking dull. The crease shade too. I kept trying to pack it on hoping for it to pop even a little, but it just wasn’t happening.

I applied the other 2 eyeshadows the way they were intended. Those worked out much better. In the end I was pleased with my look, but if I’m being honest I was hoping for a little more color. If only they had applied the way they swatched this quad would have been perfect! You can see a look I created with Hasta La Costa Baby below. I applied the browbone shade on my eyelid and browbone, the transition shade in my crease, the crease shade in my outer crease, and the eyelid shade on my lower lash line.

Overall, it’s an ok quad. I was still pleased with my look, but I really wish those 2 colorful shades popped more. But they did apply and blend beautifully. I was able to create a complete look using just this quad. And for just $2.99 you really can’t go wrong.

Have you purchased anything from the Flights of Fancy Collection? Did anything from the collection catch your eye?

Derma E Purifying Oil-Free Moisturizer

Derma E Purifying Oil-Free Moisturizer

Derma E Purifying Oil-Free Moisturizer

I received this moisturizer well over a year ago. I couldn’t wait to try it because it looked and sounded cool. Have you ever seen a black moisturizer before? I haven’t! I tried it a few times and ended up packing it up before our move. When I unpacked it I placed it in my drawer with the other moisturizers. I had forgotten all about it. Until I was running low on my go-to moisturizer and had to use a backup until I got it replaced. That’s when I rediscovered this gem.

The Derma E Purifying Oil-Free Moisturizer is described as a silky, lightweight formula that rehydrates, replenishes, and detoxifies as it helps to shield your skin from every day impurities. It contains lots of minerals and natural toxin fighters such as Bladderwrack, Activated Charcoal, Green Tea, and Aloe Leaf. It’s free of parabens, sulfates, gluten, gmos, and oils. It’s also vegan and cruelty free.

I’ve got quite a few favorites from Derma E. I’ve tried quite a few moisturizers. Some I liked and others I really didn’t care for. I didn’t exactly have a favorite in that category. Until I started using the Purifying Oil-Free Moisturizer on a regular basis. This is easily one of my top 5 products from the brand now. Here’s why. It does pump out black. It has a gel-like texture. When you start to rub it in it starts by moving around and you can actually see a bit of the black spreading all over. Once it’s fully rubbed in the black is no longer visible. My skin is left feeling a little tacky afterward, but after a while it feels so soft and looks bright and hydrated. It works beautifully under makeup. But what really sold me on this moisturizer is how it helped to soothe my sometimes red and irritated skin.

If you have super sensitive skin like I do, I highly suggest trying this out. It might seem a little odd at first, but once you get used to it you will see how great it is. It has done wonders for my skin. Being a beauty product lover and having sensitive skin is tricky. You want to try all of the products, but you never know what’s going to set your skin off. So any time I find a product that actually helps to soothe my irritated skin I feel like I’ve hit the lottery. And I did the moment I rediscovered the Derma E Purifying Oil-Free Moisturizer.

Have you tried the Derma E Purifying Oil-Free Moisturizer? What moisturizer are you loving at the moment?

*I received these products complimentary. I was not paid or compensated in any way to write this review. All opinions are completely my own.
