Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette

Swatches: Raw Sienna, Burnt Orange, Primavera, Red Ochre, Venetian Red, Warm Taupe, Realgar

There were a couple of eyeshadow palettes that I’ve had my eyes on. Do I need a new eyeshadow palette? No. But when shiny new things make their way to social media I can’t help but drool over them all! I let my wonderful husband treat me to just ONE. At first it wasn’t an easy decision. Here’s what I had to choose from; Beauty Killer by Jeffree Star Cosmetics, The Fun Palette by Ciaté London, the Serpentina Palette by Kat Von D which will be launching on July 5th, and finally the Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills. As you can see I went with the Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette. After seeing swatches flood my Instagram account I just knew I needed it in my life. And boy did I choose well!

This beautiful palette contains 14 shades in neutral to berry tones. These shadows are incredibly soft and buttery. Love Letter is the only one that felt a little dry, but it’s still easy to work with. Primavera was super soft and almost creamy. It just glided onto my arm. Most of these were super pigmented with just one swipe. But I did build up for photo purposes. Buon Fresco is seriously beautiful! My swatch doesn’t do it much justice. Cyprus Umber surprised me because I assumed it would be dry or chalky, but it was just as soft and buttery as all of the other shadows. These shadows were all very easy to work with. They applied and blended beautifully!

The palette also comes with a double-ended brush for application and blending. I don’t think it’s anything special, but I suppose it’s good to have if you’re traveling or something. I can see this palette being extra special in the Fall with all of the berry shades, but I’m totally going to be rocking the heck out of it now. It’s seriously one of the prettiest palettes in my collection now. You can see a look I created with the Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette below. I totally plan to post more looks in the future. I don’t see me putting this in my tool box any time soon. At the moment it’s sitting on top of my ‘Daily Use’ tray.

I’m wearing Love Letter on my lid, Realgar in my crease, Tempera as my highlight, and Cyprus Umber on my lower lash line. As you can see I opted for a colorful look, but you can just as easily create a more neutral look. I’m really loving this palette!

I have a feeling I’ll be buying that Kat Von D palette anyway. I just can’t pass up a pretty palette.

  15. I just purchased two palettes so .. probably won’t get this one. It’s pretty, but I find deeper pinks can make my eyes look irritated. I should go swatch this in person before passing this by :-)

  20. I’ve only really great things about the quality of the shadows in this palette! Unfortunately I have to pass: it’s full of red-based and orange shades, and these usually don’t look good on me at all. I can rock a cool, blue-based purple, but plums and berries not so much. They play well with my green eyes but not with my skintone, with the redness and very deep undereye circles. I don’t know, they just make me look tired and sick! It looks very pretty on you so I’m a bit jealous, lol!
