Purchased By Me
Back when I first joined beauty subscription boxes I started to acquire lots of samples I had absolutely no interest in whatsoever. I joined because I do like the idea of being introduced to new and exciting things. But out of 4-5 samples I’d be lucky to find just one of them to be new and exciting. So I started giving the samples I didn’t want to my mother-in-law. She never really said much of anything. Months would go by and then she’d hand me an empty container telling me she loved it and wanted more. That’s why I decided to sign back up for a few subscriptions. It’s the one thing the mother-in-law and I can share together. It’s fun watching her face light up over a product she loves and that works for her.
So here is my first Birchbox of the year! And it arrived just in time for my mother-in-law’s birthday. So I’ll be including a few of these in her birthday package.
First up is the TOCCA Crema da Mano – Hand Cream. I received the scent Bianca which is green tea and lemon. It smells so nice, but it can be a little overwhelming at times. It smells like a light floral perfume. It absorbs very quickly and leaves my hands feeling incredibly smooth.
The Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask looks like a keeper. From the Birchbox website: ‘Avocado, almond, and argan oils work together to nourish, repair, hydrate, and add shine. Strengthening keratin protein, conditioning rosehip oil, soothing aloe, and essential vitamins B5, D, A, E, and biotin help increase hair elasticity and moisture to prevent breakage. This formula is made without parabens, silicones, or phthalates.’ And it smells amazing! I’ll definitely give this a try.
The The Beauty Crop PBJ Smoothie Stick is cute, but I’ll probably pass this on to my mother-in-law because it’s totally something she’d love. The shade is really pretty. I received the shade Guava Nice Day. It does smell fruity like jelly, but I’m not really getting the peanut butter part of it.
I can’t wait to try the Marcelle New·Age 8 in 1 Power Serum. The lightweight antiaging gel claims to work in just one week. Well, we shall see about that!
Last, but certainly not least is the IPKN Moist & Firm Beauty Balm SPF 45. It’s a multitasking BB cream that contains SPF 45. It also contains vitamin e and collagen. I received the shade Light/Medium which looks like a close enough match. I’ll definitely give it a try. Even though I don’t really wear BB creams. We’ll see how it goes.
Now can we talk about how cute the box is? Honestly, I think I’m most excited about the box. I usually keep the prettier boxes to organize things around the house. And with Spring cleaning in full effect I just know I’ll put it to good use.
Also, I’m not sure if any of you remember how late my boxes would arrive? I remember complaining a few times about how my box would ship from the Midwest, travel to the East Coast, only to make its way back to the Midwest again. This box arrived within the week! Not two weeks! Not three weeks! ONE WEEK! I hope this continues!
Look like great products. The red lippie looks great :)

Thanks! There are definitely a few interesting additions.
I hope you’ll do an in-depth review on the BB cream, I love BB creams more than foundations so I’m interested to see how it pans out for you. And how amazing it is that you can share your beauty stuff with your MIL. My MIL doesn’t wear makeup, actually my friends wear minimal makeup too so I’m stuck with everything. LOL!

For you I will! I’m still testing out the CC Cream I got from IT Cosmetics. I usually don’t wear either BB or CC creams, but it should be fun to test out.
There’s a language barrier there since she doesn’t speak English and I don’t speak Spanish. But somehow beauty and skin care is a topic we can both easily get across to one another. I was so happy when my brother-in-law settled down with a fellow beauty lover, but she snubbed my goodies lol. So I started bringing them to my MIL and she absolutely loves everything. So it all really worked out. It’s definitely amazing especially given our past relationship lol. :)
A great way to bond with your MIL. The love for makeup is really a great thing to have in common.

Thank you! I absolutely agree! :)
The shade of Beauty Crop PBJ Smoothie Stick looks very pretty, perfect for spring and summer. I love creams that have green tea extract.

Thank you! Same here. Green tea just sounds so refreshing!
Aw, it’s so sweet that you gift your products to your mother in law. That’s a lovely bonding experience. :)

Thank you, Sangeeta! :)
Oooh the box itself is SO pretty! I feel the same as you do about monthly boxes in general: I used to subscribe to Ipsy but I would only get excited for one product per box, sometimes nothing at all… But I didn’t really have anyone to give the products to, so it was really a waste. I signed up for Sephora Play! today though, the fact that the boxes only contain products from brands sold at Sephora is a huge plus for me! No obscure brands I don’t care for!

Exactly! I felt it was wasteful back then too. But once my MIL showed interest I figured it might be time to sign back up. Oh I signed up for Play! too! How exciting is that???
