1. IPKN Pore Apple Sun Cream

3. Dr. Jart+ Dermask Vital Hydra Solution™ Deep Hydration Sheet Mask
4. RUSK® Volumizing Mousse
5. LAQA & Co. Charm School Kit

Here is my August 2015 Birchbox! When I did my little sneak peek I admit I wasn’t exactly excited about it. But when I finally received it I have to say that it all looks much better in person. And the samples are all very generous in size.

I’ll start off with the IPKN Pore Apple Sun Cream. You can never have enough sunscreen! And this one is infused with apple water extract which sounds really nice. I can always get some use out of sunscreen especially one that claims to be a multitasker (smoothing, color correcting, and protecting skin all day long).

The Crabtree & Evelyn Gardeners Ultra-Moisturizing Hand Therapy is nice. It’s always good to have some hand cream laying around and the packaging is super cute! It smells nice and the sample size is rather large. The tube I got in my box contains 0.9 oz. which is enough for quite a few uses.

If I didn’t just have the world’s worst experience with a sheet mask a few days ago I might have been really excited about the Dr. Jart+ Dermask Vital Hydra Solution™ Deep Hydration Sheet Mask. My skin had a bad reaction to another brand and my face is red, itchy, and broken out pretty badly. This is why I stay away from these things. My skin is just too sensitive. I’ll be passing this on to someone who can get some use from it.

I don’t know why Birchbox insists on sending me MORE volumizing products. My profile is set accordingly yet I continue to receive volumizing products. Please stop? Anyway, I’m sure the RUSK® Volumizing Mousse is a great product, but it’s definitely not for me. I don’t need volume and I haven’t needed mousse since the 90’s. I’ll be giving this away to a good home.

The LAQA & Co. Charm School Kit is pretty cool. You can never have enough lip products! This is a multitasking crayon that can also be used on your cheeks! I got the shade Cray-Cray which is a coral peach. I’m pretty sure I received a similar item in a previous Birchbox or Ipsy Bag, but I gave it away. I’ll probably hold onto this one for a while to see if I like it or not.

  1. Maybe they cant believe it? A woman saying she needs no volume, must be a mistake for sure?

  2. No need for more volume? Consider yourself lucky, haha! :D I swear my hair is so flat on top, it doesn’t matter how many volumizing products I use, it always looks like I was just wearing a hat or something ;)

    • It was the Karuna Clarifying Sheet Mask. But I can’t really say if it was horrible. I have super sensitive skin and usually stay away from masks/peels/etc. They usually do way more harm than good. But I was having some skin issues and foolishly thought this might calm it down a little. It did say calming! But instead it had the opposite effect. My skin flared up so bad and it took DAYS just to calm down some. Horrible experience.

  7. oh my gosh, i love rusk anything.

  8. Sorry to hear about your poor experience with the sheet masks but I’d probably be most excited about the Dr. Jart masks. I use to subscribe to Birch Box when I lived in the U.S. It was OK, but I definitely think that there are better boxes out there. :-)

    • What are some of your favorite Birchbox alternatives? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

It’s ok. I should have known since my skin is just so sensitive and picky lol. Initially I was most excited about the mask, but after my bad experience I figured I should just skip masks from now on. They always do more harm than good for me.

  9. I’ve never tried Birchbox, but I love the idea of trying samples first. Thanks for the product reviews!

  10. Oh no, what was the sheet mask that gave you a bad reaction? I usually like them but once I had a similar problem, it started burning me after a minute or two and I had to remove it. It was Freeman’s Star Fruit Purifying mask.

    • It was the Karuna Clarifying Sheet Mask. But like I said to Elle up there my skin is usually very sensitive so I can’t say that the mask is crappy. I usually stay away from masks and peels or anything like that because it causes more harm than good. But I like trying new things. Lesson learned lol.

This one actually felt ok on. I left it on for 10 minutes and once I removed it I noticed my face was super red and started burning. I washed off the remaining bits and just let it be for the night. The next day my face was itching like crazy and it was so red and inflamed. It was horrible! It also brought out LOTS of tiny whiteheads in clusters all over the place. Even in places I never ever breakout. Horrible! :(

I used to use the Freeman’s back in the day.

  11. I’ll take the volume that you don’t need, mine is thin, fine and freaking flat. LOL! I never tried Birchbox because they always give small samples and Canada Birchbox is horrid.
