Here is my August Birchbox! Just like last month’s box, it’s not really exciting. But there are a few items I’ll definitely get use from.
Last year I won a giveaway on Monica’s blog. It’s a cute little Oribe hair care set that I’ve yet to use. I still have so many open bottles of shampoo and conditioner, but I’m almost done with a few. So hopefully I’ll get to use it soon. I’m not so sure I’ll have much use for the Oribe Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray though, but the brand does appeal to me.
The Hey Honey Trick and Treat Cream Concealer treats and conceals the undereye area. The lightly pigmented formula conceals dark circles while keeping the area smooth and hydrated thanks to a blend of amino acid-rich proline and palm oil. It sounds like a great product and I’ll definitely give it a try, but it’s not really something I need at the moment.
I received the shade Fantasy from the Manna Kadar Cosmetics Day-Dream Palette. It’s a really pretty eyeshadow and the description claims it can easily be used as a highlighter and blush as well. I definitely wouldn’t use this as a blush, but I can totally see it working beautifully as a highlighter. In the swatches above you can see it swatched both dry and wet. This is probably my favorite item in the box.
I think Benefit wins the award for world’s tiniest sample. I had to include a close-up so that you can see just how tiny it is. I’m sure that once I use up this sample filling in just ONE brow I’ll be able to determine whether or not the Benefit goof proof brow pencil is for me. All jokes aside, this brow product worked much better than the last Benefit brow product I received. I received the shade #2 which is WAY too light for me. In the swatches above I had to swipe many times just to get that shade to show up. However, it was fairly easy to work with. The tip isn’t as fine as I’d like it to be, but I was still able to shape and fill in my brows easily. I’m sure if the shade were darker it would have made for a nice natural looking brow too. Even with my sparse brows.
The Bumble and bumble. Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer is the only other product I’ll get use out of. It’s a protective primer infused with 6 lightweight oils to de-tangle, de-frizz, and defend against heat damage. It makes coarse hair easy to style and even tames flyaways. I’ll definitely get some use out of this.
I’ve been gathering up the samples I won’t use and plan to include them in a giveaway I’m planning soon. That way someone can get some use of some of these items. I hope you all had a great weekend! I spent my weekend with my guys. We did some shopping and ate some tacos. I really need more weekends like that in my life.
