Here is my July 2015 Birchbox! And it’s a good one! Since it takes me a year and a day to get my box I have the luxury of seeing everyone’s boxes on the interwebs while I sit here and wait… impatiently. From the looks of it it seemed like it was going to be a decent box. Well, I got lucky this month because not only did I get all new to me items, but I got items I have been wanting to try (and definitely will try)! Ok enough of my rambling. Let’s get to it!

I might have tossed the amika Un.Done Texture Spray into my gift bag (a tote I store things I plan to give away) because the very last thing I need is MORE volume. My hair is super thick so I definitely don’t need any help in that department. But because I’ve tried some of their other products and loved them, I’m willing to give this a try.

I’ve heard lots of good things about Macadamia Professional™. And I love me some hair mists! So I’m pretty excited to try the Macadamia Professional™ Weightless Moisture Leave-In Conditioning Mist. And this is one generous sample!

I’ve tried a few COOLA products in the past, but I can’t remember my experience with them. The COOLA SPF 30 Organic Makeup Setting Spray sounds pretty awesome though! It’s a mattifying makeup setting spray that contains SPF! It also contains cucumber which sounds like it will be totally refreshing! I just might have to use this for a bit and give it a proper review.

Ah! I was probably a little too excited to see theBalm® cosmetics Balm Desert® Bronzer/Blush in my box this month. I really love theBalm® blushes! And the packaging is probably one of the coolest around. The sample is teeny tiny, but it’s a gorgeous shade!

I’m really not sure what I was most excited to see in my box. The bronzer or the stila look at me liquid lipstick in Venezia. Since I’ve been on a bit of a liquid lipstick kick I was excited to learn that we’d be getting one of these stila liquid lipsticks in our box this month. I was really hoping to try one of the new Summer shades. And it appears that Venezia is one of the new Summer shades. Although it was spelled Venizia on my sample. Be on the lookout for a proper review on this as well.

This month’s box may have taken forever to get here, but at least it wasn’t disappointing.

June 2015 Birchbox
1. amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo
2. Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel
3. Supergoop!® Everyday SPF 50 with Cellular Response Technology
4. Dr. Jart+ BB Night Beauty Balm
5. L. Erickson Narrow Grab and Go Pony
6. Marcelle Mini Waterproof Eyeliner Travel Kit

This month’s Birchbox is definitely more interesting than last month’s. I’ll totally get use out of more than half of these items so that’s a plus. Let’s dig in!

I’m especially excited about the amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo. I’ve been wanting to try a dry shampoo for a while, but had no idea where to start. This is a pretty decent sized sample too so I’m sure I’ll be able to determine whether or not it’s a keeper. I’ll be sure to report back.

I’m a little scared to experiment with peels. Is that weird? My skin is on the sensitive side so I’m very careful when it comes to skincare. I’m more of a less is more kinda girl in that department. I don’t mind experimenting with new skincare products, but the word peel just raises way too many red flags for me. So even though the Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel sounds like a great product with some really nice packaging, I’m going to have to pass this on to someone who will use it.

The Supergoop!® Everyday SPF 50 with Cellular Response Technology will definitely get some use! My family and I don’t live far from the lake and visit a few times a week. We’re always out and about and my horrible uneven tan is proof of that. And sunscreen always comes in handy.

The Dr. Jart+ BB Night Beauty Balm looks good, but truthfully I don’t think it’s something I’m interested in.

I’m really looking forward to loving and then losing the L. Erickson Narrow Grab and Go Pony. Because no matter how many hair bands I buy they eventually all turn up missing. Anyway, it’s said to be sturdy and at first it really does appear to be. But my hair is super thick and when I went to wrap it around I did hear it start to tear a bit. I’m hoping to get at least a few uses out of it.

Last, but certainly not least, the Marcelle Mini Waterproof Eyeliner Travel Kit in the shade Electric Blue. While I wish I had gotten Blue Lagoon, Electric Blue is really pretty. It applies nicely and feels pretty smooth. It’s nicely pigmented and appears to have a little sparkle action going on. I’ll definitely work this beauty into a few looks. You can see some swatches below.

The description on Birchbox claims once it sets it won’t budge. After swatching it on my hand I let it set for about a half hour before taking pictures. I wiped my finger across the swatch and well, it does in fact budge. However, when I went to wash it off with soap and water? Sucker wasn’t budging! I had to use makeup remover. So maybe don’t forget it’s there and go and wipe your eyes? Hey, I’ve done that a few times. It’s not pretty. But definitely wear it while watching Game of Thrones since those bastards like making us all cry.

On that note I’m taking my sunscreen and going for a walk. Hope you enjoyed the weekend!

May 2015 Birchbox
1. Harvey Prince Sea Salt Texturizing Mist
2. Beauty Protector Beauty Wash Body Cleanser
3. Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator
4. Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream
5. Coastal Scents® Revealed 3 Palette

So I decided to sign up for Birchbox again. I have a sort of love/hate relationship with Birchbox. I love it because, well, what’s not to love about getting little surprises in the mail every month? I love the suspense. What am I getting? Is it going to be good? Wooo! I’ve gotten samples of things that I tried and absolutely LOVED! So much that I not only bought a full size, but have continued to buy full sizes! So what’s there to hate about? Well, for starters I always seem to get my boxes so late compared to other people. I live a state away from where my box ships yet my box travels all the way from the Midwest, to the East Coast, only to make it back to the Midwest again. I’m not an impatient person, but it can be frustrating. Then there are those times I’m sent something that completely doesn’t line up with my profile. Which makes me sad because that usually means I have no use for said product. Most times I feel the good outweigh the bad. Which is why I signed up again.

First, the Harvey Prince Sea Salt Texturizing Mist sounded amazing until I read that it gives you instant volume. With my super thick hair the very last thing I need is volume. It truly sounds like an amazing product, but definitely not something for me. The Beauty Protector Beauty Wash Body Cleanser is a keeper. It smells nice and I can always use a good body wash. The Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator seems amazing and it’s gotten some great reviews so far. I’ve never heard of the brand, but they’ve definitely caught my attention. The Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream also looks promising. And now for the item I was REALLY looking forward to! The Coastal Scents® Revealed 3 Palette. BROKEN! That gorgeous shimmery gold shade is broken and it makes me sad. I didn’t even bother to swatch it because that gold got everywhere and I wasn’t trying to ruin my brand new white board.

Overall not a bad box, but hoping for something a little more exciting next month. Hopefully with no damaged items. Yikes!
