I don’t usually indulge in high-end products. If you look through my archives you’ll definitely come across a few here and there, but nothing excessive. While I do appreciate a little luxury every once in a while, I’ve always felt I could get a more budget-friendly product that is very similar (and in some cases even better). But once in a while something will catch my eye and I’m convinced I need said item to keep my collection looking shiny and glamorous. When I saw the promo photos for the Dior Tie Dye Collection I just knew I needed one of the blushes. Thanks to my wonderful husband and son I was able to add Pink Sunrise to my collection this past Mother’s Day. My guys spoil me.

The packaging is pretty and all sorts of luxurious. The blush even comes with a kabuki brush. I rarely use the brushes that come along with my makeup, but I definitely used this brush. It was easier to swirl around in the pan picking up all of the shades. The blush itself is just TOO pretty! I was half afraid of digging into it because I didn’t want to break it in. A beauty like this needs to be displayed! But at the same time it would be a shame to never put it to work. Beauty blogger problems.

It applied and blended effortlessly. I was afraid it would barely show on my skin, but with a little building up it looked great! It added a wonderful pink glow to my cheeks. It’s beautiful and I love it! The perfect addition to my collection. You can see it in action below.

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in (756) Golden Shock

Boy was I lucky to get my hands on this bad boy! It’s been a crazy few months for me (make that year!) between moving again, settling in again, and the holidays. I missed out on a lot of the holiday collections, but from what I can tell I didn’t miss very much. Anyway, when I set my eyes on this palette it was in the beginning of December and I couldn’t find it anywhere. When my husband and I started doing our Christmas shopping we stopped by Dillard’s (the only Dior counter within 50 miles from home) and was told they were sold out. But they were able to get the St. Louis location to send me the last palette they had in stock! See? Lucky!

You’ll have to excuse the quality of my photos. I’m still trying to set up my area. It’s been unusually dark and gloomy around here lately so outdoor shots aren’t that much different from indoor shots. So until my husband sets up my area complete with fancy shmancy lighting, this is what I’m working with.

Anyway, onto the palette! I was really sold on the plum and gold shades! I don’t own anything similar to the top 3 shades. The first plum shade is just SO pretty! I did find that it was a little difficult to work with though. But after a little work I ended up with a look I was quite pleased with. Which you can see in the following 2 photos. I used the first shade on my lid, the 5th shade in my crease, the 3rd shade on the inner corner of my eye, the 4th shade on my brow bone, and the 2nd shade on my lower lash line. As a bonus I got a full size Diorshow mascara for FREE which you can also see in the photos below.

In all I probably would have survived had I not tracked it down. But I’m certainly glad that I did because it really is pretty and with the crazy year I had a little luxury was definitely appreciated.

My wonderful husband surprised me with this gorgeous palette last week. I rarely splurge on high-end brands myself so anytime you do see a high-end brand featured on this blog, it’s because my hubby has been spoiling me.

This is actually my first Dior palette. I’ve seen swatches of some of the other palettes and while I thought they were pretty I felt they were too soft for my liking. But this one really stood out. The pattern/design is what first caught my eye, but when I swatched it for myself I just had to make it mine. The shadows are nicely pigmented and I didn’t have to build them up much to achieve the look I was going for. The texture is soft and sort of velvety. It blended wonderfully and lasted about 7 or so hours before it started to noticeably fade and slightly crease. You can see a look I created with this gorgeous palette below. I’m wearing the 4th shade on my lid, the 3rd shade in my crease, the 2nd shade on the inner corner of my eye and brow bone, the 1st shade on my lower lash line, and an entirely different brand as my highlighter. And since I was lucky enough get some Rouge Dior Lipcolor samples I decided to complete the look with shade 999.
