Purchased By Me
This is my first Jouer purchase. I also have a blush that I’m planning to review later on. But for now I’ll be talking about the Jouer Hydrating Lipstick in Meg.
I’ve actually never heard of Jouer until recently. I stumbled upon the website and decided that I really liked the looks of their lipsticks. They sounded wonderful and looked soft and elegant. I just had to try one. Here’s the description from the website ‘With a sensationally smooth, soft finish and powerful moisturizing properties of Brazil’s Cupuaçu Butter, this hydrating lipstick keeps lips protected and nourished with enduring beautiful coverage. A perfect balance of beauty and treatment.’ After seeing swatches of Meg I decided that was the lipstick I was going to start with.
Meg is described as a creamy honey pink. First let me talk about the packaging. I absolutely love the feel of this lipstick. It’s so smooth… sleek! It’s simple yet elegant. I just really like the way it feels in my hands. It’s unlike any other tube I own. Now onto the good stuff. In the swatches above you can see how it looks with one swipe vs built up. It’s a beautiful pink shade after a few swipes. On the lips not so much. In fact my hand swatch looks nothing like my lip swatch. I’m a little bummed about that. However, it does make for a beautiful nude. I just really wish that some of that pink pulled through on the lips. I wasn’t expecting something super pigmented, but I really was expecting PINK. Or at least some pink!
Shade issues aside, it did glide onto my lips effortlessly. They weren’t kidding when they said creamy. This lipstick is incredibly creamy and moisturizing! It made for a very comfortable wear. It lasted about 3-4 hours before I had to reapply. And it reapplied just as nicely.
Overall I wouldn’t say that this turned out to be a dud. While I’m not overly impressed I do love the packaging and the formula. The shade was a little more sheer than I’d like, but I can still work with that. Nothing a little lip liner action can’t fix. I’ll definitely try some more stuff from Jouer. Including the blush that I’m still testing out. So be on the lookout for that soon! In the meantime you can see Meg in action below.
