I was so excited when I found out that I would be getting this VoxBox. I don’t have a lot of Make Up For Ever in my collection, but I love the few items I do have. It’s nice to have the chance to test out some of their foundations. I’ve been meaning to try some out for a while now.
First up is the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation. I received the shade 115 – R230. It’s actually a really nice match. I didn’t notice a scent. It’s a little watery, but not runny. I applied it with my BeautyBlender over my moisturizer and primer. It applied and blended beautifully! I really like the coverage. I got a really nice medium coverage. It builds up nicely, but I didn’t get too carried away. I prefer a more natural looking coverage. I don’t mind if a few imperfections are peeking through. But this foundation actually covered most of it. Not that I have too much to cover at the moment. But it evened everything out perfectly!
It felt lightweight and was a really comfortable wear. I did start to get shiny around 3-4 hours, but it wasn’t so bad. It still looked pretty good around the 9 hour mark just before I washed it off. I really, really, really, loved this foundation. Until I washed it off and saw how red and irritated my face was. My cheeks were slightly swollen. By morning my cheeks were still slightly swollen, rosy, and I felt some bumps. It’s rare that a foundation causes this kind of a reaction. The only other face makeup that caused a similar reaction was Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer. Another product I loved and had to stop using because of my sensitive skin. I really wish I knew what about this foundation caused such a reaction. The only products that really cause my skin to freak out are serums and sheet masks.
Overall it really is a great foundation and if my skin hadn’t reacted negatively I definitely would have purchased it once I ran out. I didn’t like the shine poking through after just 3-4 hours, but it’s nothing that can’t be fixed. And that was the only con for me. Well, that and my cheeks swelling up. Can’t win ‘em all I guess.
You can see the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation in action below. I’d also like to mention how beautifully it photographs. It really is such a beautiful foundation. Now excuse me while I continue to pout.
