NYX In Your Element Earth Shadow Palette

When I first saw the NYX In Your Element Shadow Palettes, I knew I was going to make one of them mine. It was difficult deciding which one since there weren’t many reviews floating around. There still aren’t! So I went to my local Ulta and swatched them personally. The Earth Palette was the only one that caught my eye. The Metal Palette was also very nice, but I need a few mattes to create a full look. So I settled on the Earth Palette.

The shimmery shades were really pigmented and very easy to work with. The mattes needed a bit of building up, but were still fairly easy to work with. The shades all applied much nicer on the lids than they did on my arm. My only issue is that I don’t think the shades play that nicely together. I used 4 different shades for this eye look and it looks like I maybe used 2? I guess the color combination is difficult to work with to begin with. But when I saw it I kind of grouped together the shades I thought would work together, but then it ended up looking like one single color. You can see what I mean below.

I still think it’s very pretty and I’ll probably get use of that green during the Holidays. I’ll definitely use a few of the shades, but I’ll have to reach for other shadows to create a full look. Overall, I’d have to say this is a bit of a miss for me. I’m just not completely sold on this palette.

Have you tried any of the NYX In Your Element Shadow Palettes? What are your thoughts?

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp

A while back I purchased a few NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. I was lucky enough to get them while they were on sale (buy one get one 40% off I believe). That’s always the best time to try new things, isn’t it?

The first shade I’m going to be talking about is Antwerp. Antwerp is described as a mid-tone yellow-toned pink. It applied rather streaky, but once I smoothed it all out it was just fine. The applicator was soft and fairly easy to work with. It was surprisingly comfortable and didn’t feel drying at all. It was so lightweight! I seriously felt like I had nothing on! I was more surprised about how long it lasted. It lasted all day long and only got a little patchy after eating. But for the most part the color was still going strong at the end of the day!

This is a great lipstick! I love the color! I love the feel of it! I also love that I can pick these up any time I’m roaming around Target while the guys are hanging out in the electronics department. You better believe I’ll be adding more shades to my collection.

Falafel - This recipe has been my go-to falafel recipe for years! I make very few changes. First, I cut the recipe in half so that I don't have waste. Last, I only use garbanzo beans. To serve, I layer homemade tzatziki sauce, halved falafel balls, diced cucumber/tomato/onion, and shredded lettuce on a flour tortilla. Then I wrap it up like a burrito and slice in half. I store the reamining cooked falafel in an airtight container in the fridge for easy lunches throughout the week. I reheat falafel on a skillet lightly coated with cooking spray or oil.
