I first heard about LipSense on Agata’s blog. I was surprised I hadn’t heard about it sooner since I’m a bit of a liquid lipstick fanatic. But I swear, ever since then I’ve seen it everywhere. Facebook, Pinterest, and I’ve even had friends asking me about it. So you can imagine how excited I was when Sonya from RedGateBeauty.com sent me my very first LipSense!

So what is LipSense? It’s a waterproof, transferproof, liquid lip color. It claims to last anywhere from 4-18 hours! There are many shades to choose from and you can even mix and match to create your very own custom shade!

Unlike other liquid lipsticks on the market, LipSense application requires a few extra steps. First you apply 3 layers. Then you top it off with the gloss of your choice to seal that color in while keeping your lips moisturized. It seems like a lot of work, but it’s surprisingly not. And that little bit of extra effort really pays off in the long run because you’re left with a gorgeous look that truly is long lasting.

Here’s my experience with LipSense. I chose the shade Strawberry Shortcake with the Gold Glitter Gloss. I thought it would be a pretty combo and boy was I right! The gloss is so pretty and sparkly, but a more wearable kind of sparkly. The LipSense applied nice and evenly. I did notice a bit of a tingling sensation when I swatched it on my hand and when I applied the first layer on my lips. It goes away within a few seconds though. After applying the 3rd layer the color was looking really pretty, but my lips felt tacky. That all changed when I applied the Gold Glitter Gloss. Afterward there was a slight tackiness, but it wasn’t overly sticky like most glosses. I wouldn’t say that it felt lightweight. I definitely noticed it on the lips. However, it still made for a pretty comfortable wear. My only issue was the scent. There’s a bit of a strong floral fragrance that really does linger. Other than that I found it to be a really great liquid lipstick. You can see Strawberry Shortcake LipSense with the Gold Glitter Gloss in action below.

Now for a little advice. If you’re like me and are used to removing your liquid lipstick with a makeup removing wipe, you’re going to be in for a surprise. I would suggest getting the LipSense Oops Remover unless you’re ok with taking a few layers of skin off your lips. These lipsticks really don’t budge! After wiping and scrubbing with various removers, I finally whipped out the rubbing alcohol. I wouldn’t suggest that method, but hey it did work.

LipSense and RedGateBeauty

Overall, I’d say it really is a great liquid lipstick. I can see them coming in handy for work or a night out. Because all you’d have to do is reapply the gloss and your lipstick will stay put! Check out RedGateBeauty.com to give LipSense a try!

Swatches

I find that a lot of drugstore brands are really stepping up their game these days. Maybe not packaging wise, but with their eye-catching shades and surprisingly nice quality. I’d still like to see some pretty packaging, but I suppose it really doesn’t matter if the quality is there along with nice shade selections.

e.l.f. had recently sent me a nice box of goodies. This beautiful little duo in the shade Tea For Two along with another in the shade Peach Squad really stood out. I just couldn’t wait to dig in and swatch them. The duos come with a shimmery shade and a matte shade. I found them both to be soft and nicely pigmented. The shimmery shade was more pigmented than the matte and it pops even more when you apply with a dampened brush. The matte was a little on the powdery side and needed some building up, but it built up rather nicely. You can probably tell from my swatch.

Overall, I’m really impressed with these duos. I think the shades are gorgeous and compliment each other nicely. You can see a look I created with Tea For Two below. e.l.f. suggests applying the matte shade on the lid and the shimmery shade in the crease. I didn’t apply the shimmery shade with a dampened brush because I wanted to go with a much softer look. I’m very happy with how it turned out.

You can find these nifty little duos on the e.l.f. Cosmetics website. There are 5 shades to choose from and they are $3.00 each.

Lime Crime M$LF Velvetines Set

Lime Crime M$LF Velvetines Set

Lime Crime M$LF Velvetines Set

Lime Crime M$LF Velvetines Set

Swatches: M$LF, Cougar, Low Cut, Stacy’s Mom

About a month back Lime Crime had a really sweet deal going on. I went a little crazy and grabbed quite a few Velvetines including the M$LF Velvetines Set. I loved the first one I tried out so much that I just couldn’t wait to place another order. I like to wait for good deals though. Or new releases. And boy did I luck out! I believe I paid half price for the set. It’s originally $50.00.

Lime Crime M$LF Velvetines Set

The M$LF Velvetines set comes in a cute pink box. It looks like a cigarette box. I’m not a smoker, but the box is still super cute. The set contains 4 Velvetines. All of them applied nicely and evenly. For the most part I did find them to be very long lasting. I also found them to be some of the most comfortable liquid lipsticks I’ve ever tried. And they smell like cake!

Lime Crime M$LF Velvetines Set

Cougar is described as a grey taupe. This is the only shade I didn’t get a picture of. I didn’t care for how it looked on me. I might give it another go with a different eye look.

Lime Crime M$LF Velvetines Set

Low Cut

Low Cut is described as a true terracotta. I’m really loving this shade lately.

Lime Crime M$LF Velvetines Set

M$LF

MSLF is described as a Rose Nude. I found that this looked nothing like the swatch posted on the website. Actually NONE of the lipsticks looked anything like the swatches on the website. But this one bummed me out the most. Don’t get me wrong. It’s a gorgeous nude shade. But I was hoping for that really nice MLBB shade that’s depicted on the website. Instead this is a true (barely there) nude.

Lime Crime M$LF Velvetines Set

Stacy’s Mom

Stacy’s Mom is described as a sugar plum mauve. I actually prefer the actual shade of this over the website swatch. I’m digging the muted plum look on me. My only issue with this shade is that it wasn’t even filled all the way. You can see in the photo below. I’m really bummed because this was the shade I was most excited about.

Lime Crime M$LF Velvetines Set

Overall, I think it’s a really cute set and I was lucky to get it at a really great price. However, if you’re hoping for those vibrant shades depicted on the website, you might be disappointed. Because for me they were WAY off!
