OFRA Cosmetics Highlighter in Rodeo Drive

Swatch

I actually received the OFRA Cosmetics Highlighter in Rodeo Drive last year. It was right around Valentine’s Day which is why you see my heart props in the background. With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching I figured this was the perfect time to finally share my thoughts with you all.

I believe this is my first time experimenting with OFRA Cosmetics. I did receive one of their blushes in an older Ipsy bag, but haven’t gotten around to reviewing it. I probably should have tested the two together, but I really didn’t think of that until now. Keep an eye out for that review next year. Hah!

OFRA Cosmetics Highlighter in Rodeo Drive

The OFRA Cosmetics Highlighter in Rodeo Drive is described as a universally flattering sun-kissed shade. It’s incredibly pigmented and really doesn’t need to be built up unless you’d like to be seen from space. You know how lots of people say a highlighter is blinding, but really it’s just a little extra glowy? Well, Rodeo Drive really is blinding! I really have to remember to use a light hand when reaching for this one. I don’t mind it so much in photos, but in person you can see me coming from miles away. It’s really beautiful though. You can see Rodeo Drive in action below.

OFRA Cosmetics Highlighter in Rodeo Drive

This is probably one of the easiest highlighters I’ve ever had to photograph. Usually I have to tilt my head just right so that the light hits my highlight allowing it to show in a photo. I didn’t have to try so hard with Rodeo Drive.

Overall, I was impressed with how pigmented it was. It’s a serious highlighter. If you want a highlighter that means business I think you’d really love it. But if you’re looking for something more natural, you might find it to be too much. I personally love it. However, it is very pricey. That would be my only con.

Have you tried anything from OFRA Cosmetics? What highlighters are you loving right now?

*I received these products complimentary. I was not paid or compensated in any way to write this review. All opinions are completely my own.

I’ve talked about Jeffree Star on my blog a few times. I mentioned how I’m a bit of a fan girl and I know that rubbed some the wrong way. I know he’s not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s ok. I’ve been following him since the MySpace days. That’s a long time! He’s easily my favorite YouTuber and he’s the only one my husband will watch with me. A few weeks back we sat and watched the Shane Dawson Jeffree Star Docu-Series while we ate pizza. Good times! I highly suggest checking out the Docu-Series. It’s funny and inspiring as heck.

My husband was surprised to learn that I hadn’t reviewed any of his palettes yet. Truth is none of them really appealed to me. They’re very pretty. Especially the Thirsty Palette. But I just didn’t feel they were shades I needed in my life. Then Blood Sugar was launched and I knew that was going to be my first Jeffree Star Cosmetics palette! Of course it took me a while to actually get my hands on it. When I finally decided to make it mine it had already sold out. So I waited. And waited. After another restock I was able to scoop it up. I’m so glad that I did!

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Blood Sugar Palette

I love the cute red case that the palette is housed in. It’s a little bulky, but it’s sturdy and I feel like it really keeps my shadows safe. The palette contains 18 eyeshadows including matte, metallic and pressed glitter finishes. The bold shades are what really caught my eye. There are a few neutral shades to tie it all together, but the bold shades are what really stand out to me. To me, these shades scream Jeffree Star! They’re bold and absolutely beautiful. This is the palette I was waiting for.

The shadows were all nicely pigmented. They applied and blended like a dream! Even the deeper shades! I thought for sure Coma was going to give me a hard time. It didn’t. In fact it’s one of my favorite shades!

You could very easily create a neutral look using Blood Sugar. But I have a feeling that if you purchased this palette you’re probably going to want to reach for those bold shades. Like Root Canal and Cherry Soda. Which is exactly what I did! You can see a few of my looks below.

Overall, I’d have to say I’m impressed. Blood Sugar is such a beautiful palette. I think if you were to ask me what my favorite palette is I’d have to go with Blood Sugar. Although that could change next week. Because y’all know I can’t settle on just one. But it’s my favorite for the moment. Unfortunately it’s a little too big to fit into my most reached for drawer. So I have it sitting on top of my vanity.

Have you tried anything from Jeffree Star Cosmetics? What are your thoughts on Blood Sugar?

Swatches: Hijinx, Vertigo

I really love Sugarpill’s sparkly matte lipsticks. They really are my favorites. I really wanted to get their Halloween shades, but after seeing a few reviews I decided to skip them. I knew something newer and better would come along. And that it did.

Sugarpill launched 3 new sparkle-infused matte Liquid Lip Colors in the shades Hijinx, Sub-Zero, and Vertigo. I was tempted to buy all 3, but I wasn’t sure if I could pull off the blackened navy blue. Hijinx and Vertigo were more my style. Today I will be talking about Vertigo.

Vertigo is described as a muted smokey purple infused with multidimensional teal sparkle. You can probably tell from my swatch that the sparkle is visible this time around. And it looks stunning! Vertigo is very pigmented. It was a little watery compared to some of my other Sugarpill lipsticks. But I didn’t experience any issues with application. In fact it applied nice and evenly. Once it dried down I just rubbed my lips together and bam! Sparkles! It also makes for a comfortable wear. I find their lipsticks to be fairly long lasting, but you may need to touch up after eating.

After a while the teal sparkles really took over and my lipstick looked a little more blue. I wasn’t mad at it. In fact it got me thinking that maybe… just maybe I can pull off Sub-Zero after all. But for now you can see Vertigo in action below.

Overall, Vertigo is a winner in my book! It’s incredibly beautiful and I got so many compliments when I wore it out. It’s a very unique shade. It gives me some strong mermaid vibes.

What do you think of Vertigo? Am I the only one who thinks of mermaids when I see it?
