Swatches: Nova, Gammaray

I feel like I haven’t talked about anything Kat Von D in years. Which is odd considering the fact that I use quite a few of her products daily. I guess I just haven’t been impressed by the newer releases? I’m not really sure what happened.

The Kat Von D Kitten Mini Crush on Blush highlighter and blush duo caught my eye though. It totally reminded me of why I love Kat Von D products. This is what I’ve been missing. This super cute duo contains a mini Everlasting Blush in the shade Nova and a mini Metal Crush Extreme Highlighter in the shade Gammaray.

Nova is the most beautiful dusty rose shade with a matte finish. Kat Von D does these shades really well. I can’t resist them even though I have many similar shades in my collection already. It’s soft and very pigmented. I suggest using a light hand when applying and build up as needed. It applied and blended beautifully.

Gammaray is a pretty metallic peach with gold glimmer. I get some rose gold vibes from this shade. The glitter is a little chunky, but not overly so. There was a bit of fallout, but I didn’t find it to be bothersome.

You can see the Kat Von D Kitten Mini Crush on Blush in action below.

Overall, I love this little duo! It’s perfect for every day wear and makes for a nice natural look. The highlighter might be a bit too shimmery for some, but I personally loved it. And I’m not big on shimmer or glitters. I really hope the brand does more of these types of products because I sure do miss them.

Have you tried anything new from Kat Von D recently?

When the Kylie Cosmetics Valentine Palette came back in stock I took advantage and ordered the Valentine Matte Lip Kit too. I’m always hesitant about purchasing the Lip Kits because they’re so pricey. I wish some of these kits were sold individually. I don’t always have use for the Lip Liners. But it was on sale and I really couldn’t resist.

I’ve tried a few lip products from Kylie Cosmetics and really liked them. I don’t think the shades are really unique or anything, but this bright pink really stood out to me. And the packaging is super cute! I don’t usually use Lip Liners, but for this review I used both products in the Matte Lip Kit. The Lip Liner glided on nicely. It’s very pigmented and could probably be worn on its own. The Matte Liquid Lipstick applied nicely too. It’s a little watery and dries down pretty quickly. It felt lightweight and made for a comfortable wear. It lasted well over 8 hours. Toward the end of the day it started to feel a little dry, but it wasn’t too bothersome. It did leave behind a bit of a stain after removal. I did detect a scent, but I can’t quite put my finger on it. It sort of reminds me of a cherry cough drop. My allergies are throwing things out of whack for me these days. So that’s the best I can do.

You can see the Kylie Cosmetics Valentine Matte Lip Kit in action below. I didn’t pair it with the Valentine Palette because I wanted to do a pink look first. I didn’t want to go overboard with the pink.

Kylie Cosmetics Valentine Matte Lip Kit

Overall, I have to say that I love the Valentine Matte Lip Kit. I still don’t have much use for the Lip Liner, but I really wanted that lipstick. It’s gorgeous and absolutely perfect for Summer!

I’m slowly, but surely trying to get back into a routine. After everything that’s happened I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. I’m trying to just take it one day at a time. I’m still feeling upset about my hair. I really am trying to look at the bright side. Once a week I go to get my hair deep conditioned, my color refreshed, and I walk out looking like me again. I’m grateful for that. I truly am. But in between appointments when I wash my own hair and I see it crunch back up again, I can’t help but feel sad. And when I see my frail hair breaking off my anxiety kicks in and I wonder how much longer I have to deal with this. I feel like an annoyance when I constantly ask how much longer my hair is going to be like this, but I guess that’s anxiety for you. You constantly need to be reassured. Even though I’m told it will be a while before my hair looks and feels like normal hair again, I wonder if that’s even true. I feel like it’s going to be like this until it grows out and I can cut off the frail bits.

ColourPop Pressed Powder Shadow Palette in Sweet Talk

Anyway, last week I talked about my latest ColourPop order. I just had to get my hands on the Pressed Powder Shadow Palette in It’s My Pleasure and Sweet Talk. Had I not laid my eyes on Sweet Talk I probably could have stayed away from ColourPop for a while. But this palette really caught my eye. It’s so pretty and absolutely perfect for Spring!

The Pressed Powder Shadow Palette in Sweet Talk contains 12 eyeshadows in 4 different formulas! It includes their pressed powder, pressed pigment, pressed glitter, and super shock shadow! I’m really digging the variety here. There is a nice combination of transition shades and some really pretty sparkly lid shades. I appreciate the addition of a base shade. I love using those types on my brow bone. The shadows all applied and blended beautifully. Apparently a few shades aren’t meant to be used in the eye area. I probably wouldn’t put the glitters near my eye anyway as they were quite chunky. The pigments didn’t cause any irritation though and my eyes can be pretty sensitive. You can see a look I created with the Pressed Powder Shadow Palette in Sweet Talk below.

ColourPop Pressed Powder Shadow Palette in Sweet Talk

Overall, I’d have to say that I really love this palette. I have no clue how I’ll use the pressed glitters, but the rest of the shadows are just gorgeous and will get lots of use. I wouldn’t say it’s a must have since a few of these can’t even be applied near your eyes. I’m pretty sure I even have a few of these shades in other ColourPop palettes and you might too. Or at least it seems that way since they all start to look the same at some point. I really do need to lay off the palettes for a while, but Sweet Talk was just too pretty to pass up. Even the packaging is pretty!

Did you purchase anything from ColourPop’s Spring collection? How would you use the pressed glitters?
