Swatches: Cat’s Eye, From The Moon

Back when the ColourPop Sailor Moon Collection launched I had purchased a few items. They were too cute to pass up. I really loved the colorful shadows! Of course I had to get the blushes too. Even though I’m always worried when purchasing their blushes. For me they tend to be very powdery. I don’t know what it is. I seem to be one of the very few who don’t get along with the blushes.

The Pretty Guardian Shadow Palette contains 12 eyeshadows in matte, metallic, foiled, and Super Shock finishes. They describe it as a pastel palette, but I personally feel like it’s a little too vibrant to be pastel. Some of the shades are on the softer side though. They all swatched and applied beautifully. The Cat’s Eye and From The Moon Pressed Powder Blushes were exactly what I was expecting. Cat’s Eye is described as a pearlized rose pink with silver pinpoints. This one swatched really nice and applied beautifully. From The Moon is described as a matte vibrant pink and was pretty powdery. It took a little work to get it to show up for a swatch, but it did cooperate. But as you can see from my swatch it is on the patchy side.

You can see a look I created with the ColourPop Sailor Moon Collection below.

Overall, I’d have to say that it’s a super cute collection. I really do love the palette and at least one of the blushes was a hit. I also really love the packaging. I’m kind of wishing I had gotten a few of the lip products as well. Even the glitters were super cute. But I’m not big on glitters so that was an easy pass for me. I do regret not picking up a few of the lip products though.

I know it’s been a while since my last blog post. I keep saying how I have so much to share and I do. However, work was taking up most of my time. For the time being I have to take a step back. So I figured I’d take advantage of the free time. If I’m being honest I can use the distraction. My head is spinning just thinking about all of the horrific things happening in the world right now along with some unsettling news that I received just last week. If I can’t bake, I’ll have to blog. I have to do something.

A few years back MAC released the first Selena Collection. I was so excited and couldn’t wait to get my hands on the products. While I was very happy with my purchases, I remember feeling a little underwhelmed. So when I heard that MAC was releasing a second collection I was hoping for something more. I do feel like they stepped it up just a bit, but I’m still not completely satisfied. I was expecting bolder shades. More bling. More… I don’t know. Just more!

This time around I only purchased two items. I opted for one Retro Matte Liquid Lip Color in Dame Un Beso and the Extra Dimension Skinfinish in La Leyenda. Dame Un Beso is described as a raspberry pink. It applied nice and evenly. It made for a fairly comfortable wear, however I wouldn’t say it was the most comfortable. It’s a gorgeous shade though! La Leyenda is described as a rich gold on pearl. I absolutely love the rose! This piece right here is exactly what I envisioned for the perfect Selena Collection. So this piece was a must have for me. La Leyenda is the most beautiful highlighter. I’m sure many of us have quite a few gold highlighters in our collection, so unless you are a fan you probably don’t need this one. Then again can we ever have too many gold highlighters?

You can see the MAC Selena La Reina Collection in action below. I’m wearing Dame Un Beso on my lips and La Leyenda as my highlighter.

Overall, I’d have to say that while I was still hoping for more, I did love the pieces I purchased. And out of the two at least one of them was exactly what I had envisioned for the perfect Selena Collection. I still say they could have blinged out the lipsticks a bit more. While the shades are gorgeous, the packaging is pretty plain.

Relax Away Essentials Bath Bombs

I’ve talked about bath bombs on my blog quite a bit. I think I buy more bath bombs than makeup. As of lately anyway. I can’t help myself. I’m forever running around doing way more than I need to be doing. By the end of the day the only thing that truly helps me to unwind is a nice hot bath. Regardless of how warm it is outside. There are only a handful of shops that I truly enjoy. So I’m always excited when I find a new one. I don’t even remember how I found Relax Away Essentials, but man am I glad that I did! You’ve probably seen me mention them on my Instagram account already. But now I’m going to show you just a few of my purchases.

I love that they are local(ish). I love their fun new releases. I love that they also make CBD bath bombs. Some days I really need the extra relaxation. Other days I just want pretty bath water so a regular bath bomb will do. They always smell so good! The most recent bath bomb I used was Mermaid Life. My husband came home from work and said the house smelled so good. It was the Mermaid Life Bath Bomb. He couldn’t believe it. He thought I lit a candle or something. I was like ‘Nope, it’s all me, baby!’ Hahaha!

If I had to pick a favorite I’d have to go with the Gnome Grown Bath Bomb. That one contains CBD. I so wish they had more of those. I absolutely loved it! It was the most relaxing bath that I’ve ever had. It might even be my favorite bath bomb ever! Now all I have are memories…

Relax Away Essentials is a cute online shop. If you’re stuck in the house and find yourself moping around a lot, treat yourself! Seriously, one of these will surely lift your spirits. Don’t believe me? Check out this Tiger King Bath Bomb! How can you not laugh while plopping one of those bad boys into your tub? I need to try that one next.

So what have you been doing to keep busy while at home? I hope you’re all staying safe!
