At the beginning of the year I mentioned how I wanted to shop my stash more and use up stuff I already have. Now that I have a new job and lots of extra money that hasn’t changed. However, I did say that I would make an exception for essentials and the occasional shiny new item. If it catches my eye and I feel like it’s a must-have. Not a whole lot has caught my eye lately. That is until ColourPop came out with some new stuff. Again. It seems like they release new stuff every day. But their Summery looking palettes really jumped out at me. Not that I need to be rolling into work with bright orange and turquoise eyes. Still, that didn’t stop me from purchasing both the Sol and Mar Palettes.

ColourPop Sol Palette

First up is the Sol Palette. The packaging is really colorful and fun. The first thing I noticed was the plastic packaging. All of my other ColourPop Palettes are housed in cardboard packaging. I’m not sure which I like more. I suppose the plastic is much easier to clean. Which is a good thing considering these palettes arrived a little messy.

ColourPop Sol Palette

The Sol Palette contains 9 eyeshadows. It’s a nice mix of mattes, satins, and metallics. They swatched and applied beautifully. I never really had an issue with the quality of their products. Some can be hit or miss, but I actually love their eyeshadows. My only issue with this palette is that there isn’t a brow bone shade. Well, one that I’d use anyway. So I did have to reach for another palette to complete my look. I also used a shade from the Mar Palette to balance out my look so that there wasn’t so much orange. I think both of the palettes compliment each other beautifully.

You can see a look I created with the Sol Palette below. I’m wearing New Digs and Dynamite in my crease. OOO on my lid with B+B patted in the center. Detour from the Mar Palette on my lower lash line. El Rey from the Mar Palette in the inner corner of my eye. I used a different shade from another palette for my brow bone.

Overall, I’m really digging the Sol Palette. I personally don’t feel comfortable creating a looking using just those 9 eyeshadows. However, it does compliment the Mar Palette nicely and since I did purchase both creating a look I was comfortable with was very easy.

A quick update on the blog. I know things have been a little quiet around here. I’ve actually been working behind the scenes a bit. I just finished logging my entire makeup and skin care inventory. This will help me see what I have on hand, what I’ve already blogged, and what I would like to reblog. I’d also like to share my setup again. It’s changed so much since the last time I shared it. I finally have it set up just the way I want it. I’ll probably share that post during the Fall though since I have a ton of decorations that I plan to set out. In the meantime I do have some newer stuff I’d like to share along with some older stuff I have rediscovered. Thank you for still stopping by. It really means a lot to me.

Life Flower Bath Bombs

Life Flower Bath Bomb

Life Flower Aphrodite Bath Bomb

Some of you might remember my charcoal bath bomb incident a few weeks back. If you didn’t catch any of it, allow me to fill you in real quick.

It was one of my only days off and instead of resting up like my husband suggested, I decided to be extra and did more than I should have. I ran a bunch of errands, I came home and dusted, scrubbed, swept, mopped, did laundry, and even washed all of my brushes! I didn’t mind because I had a nice relaxing bath bomb with my name on it at the end of the day.

Life Flower Bath Bomb

Life Flower Charcoal Aura Bath Bomb (discontinued)

The time finally came. My bath was set, I had a candle lit, I dropped the bath bomb and that’s when things quickly went downhill. I thought it looked odd, but I figured I had come this far. I got into the tub and when I lifted my arm the charcoal had stuck to me like a paste. I didn’t panic. I tried to relax. I wiped it off and when I realized it wasn’t budging then I started to panic. I just washed this tub! Not only that I just used all of the hot water to set my bath! This wasn’t good. I sat there for a moment trying to soak up the benefits of the CBD infused bath bomb. It wasn’t working. All I could think about was the mess in my tub and the mess all over my body! I started to laugh. I got up and started the cleaning process. It took me over an hour to scrub that tub clean again! Charcoal doesn’t budge! It took me even longer to get the charcoal off of my body. And that was with my husband’s help!

After I dried off I immediately posted my review. It was at that point that I noticed I had a message from the company who made the charcoal bath bomb. Turns out they were trying to warn me. I guess that particular bath bomb was pulled from shops because people either really loved it or really hated it. I felt horrible. They tried to warn me. But I had my phone charging while I was cleaning all day so I didn’t see it in time. They kindly offered to send me some of their other bath bombs to try out. I accepted because I’ll never turn down a bath bomb. Unless of course it’s made of charcoal. I’m kind of scarred for life now.

Life Flower Bath Bomb

Life Flower Limonene Bath Bomb

The Life Flower bath bombs are CBD infused. For those of you who don’t know, CBD is a cannabis compound. It’s legal in some (most?) states. It is NOT a drug. It doesn’t contain THC and is non-psychoactive. It offers many health benefits for those with certain health issues including anxiety. The thought of taking medication makes me more anxious so I have turned to a more natural approach. It’s what works for me and has helped tremendously. It has even helped me with pain management. After getting hurt at work I had gone to the emergency room and they prescribed me a high dose of Naproxen. I really didn’t want to take it, but the pain was unbearable at times. In the end it caused more harm than good. CBD products helped me and fast. Before I knew it I was feeling like myself again. Without the use of medicine and their horrible side effects.

CBD comes in many forms. There are oils, edibles, creams/lotions, and bath bombs! There’s even a CBD infused mascara out there! I was hoping to receive that in my Play! by Sephora bag last month, but Sephora plays too much. Anyway, back to the bath bombs. Life Flower sent me two of their gorgeous bath bombs.

Last night I tried the Limonene Bath Bomb. You can see a video on my Instagram Stories. It smelled like a delicious lemon cake! I could have just really wanted a piece of cake, but that’s what it reminded me of. The scent was so uplifting. The bath bomb itself was in fact relaxing. Afterward my skin was so soft and felt moisturized that I didn’t even need to apply lotion. The following morning I could still smell it. And my skin is as soft as ever! The flower petals were a much easier clean up and the stone will make for a beautiful necklace or bracelet. I was much happier with this bath bomb. The only thing I will mention is to be careful when getting in and out of your tub. The coconut oil can be a tad slippery. But that’s the same with any bath products. Overall, I’d give the Limonene Bath Bomb a solid 10/10.

Life Flower Insomnia Elixir

Life Flower Insomnia Elixir

Life Flower also included one of their Elixirs in their care package. The Insomnia Elixir sounds interesting. I’ll have to try it out before sharing my thoughts. I might have to purchase the Headache and Anxiety Elixirs because those sound like something I could use too.

*Note: While the CBD products mentioned here DO NOT contain THC nor do the other CBD infused products I’ve tried, some CBD infused products DO contain THC. However, it has to be clearly labeled. And you certainly won’t be able to walk into the mall and purchase one of those. Always read labels and do your own research before trying new things.

*I received these products complimentary. I was not paid or compensated in any way to write this review. All opinions are completely my own.

The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer

The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer

Back when I purchased The Ordinary Serum Foundation I also picked up a few other products from the brand. One of those products is The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer. I always seem to run out of primer at the worst possible time. I thought it would be nice to have a different one to use as backup. That’s really the only reason I purchased it.

The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer is described as a mattifying and blurring primer with advanced adaptive silicones which help makeup adhere to the skin. It claims to blur imperfections, help makeup last longer, all while leaving your skin with a matte finish.

I didn’t detect much of a scent. It was in fact non-greasy. I had read that another blogger had great results when she pat the primer into her skin. Ever since that’s how I’ve been applying my primer. I’ve never experienced any issues using this method of application. The primer evened out my skin nicely and my makeup applied beautifully. I actually really love the way my makeup looks when I use this primer. I think it does a pretty great job at evening out my skin for a more airbrushed effect. Now that I’m working I can say that it holds up pretty well for a typical work day. By the time I get home my makeup is still going strong.

The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer

Overall, I’d have to say this primer is a keeper! I really only purchased it to have on hand in case I ran out of my go-to primers. I didn’t expect to love it so much that I’d add it to my rotation. As for the other products I purchased? I wasn’t really a fan. Truth be told I wasn’t exactly sold on this primer at fist either. Thankfully I really got the chance to put it to the test once I started working. And now it’s one of my favorite primers.

Have you tried anything from The Ordinary? What are your favorite products?
