Swatches: Bam, Glam, Wham

I’m still making my way through my Holiday Haul products. I’m just about done. Then maybe I can finally share some of the newer stuff I have piled up on my desk.

This is the ColourPop NKLA X Laura Lee Bundle. It’s a collaboration with ColourPop and Laura Lee. All net profits from the purchase of any ColourPop X Laura Lee product go towards Best Friends Animal Society. A leading national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters. The collaboration consists of a Super Shock Shadow Foursome and a Lip Bundle. I bought the Lip Bundle which includes 3 lip products.

  • Bam – Red Berry (Ultra Satin Lip)
  • Glam – True Rose Gold (Ultra Metallic Lip)
  • Wham – Champagne Nude Metallic With Silver Glitter (Ultra Glossy Lip)

Bam was a little messy to apply and can sometimes look a tad patchy. Once you even everything out it’s a really gorgeous shade. It was fairly comfortable and long lasting.

Glam was my favorite of the trio. Y’all already know that I’m a sucker for rose gold. Aside from the pretty rose gold shade this lipstick applied beautifully and made for a comfortable wear. The formula was nice and creamy. Almost mousse like. I’m really digging their metallics.

Wham is the second Ultra Glossy Lip I have tried. It’s very different from the first one. This one contained chunks of glitter and felt a little gritty, but not overly so. I definitely noticed the texture however, I wouldn’t say it was bothersome. It did look metallic. At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. After seeing it in photos I decided that I really did like it. It wasn’t super sticky and was fairly comfortable.

Overall, I’d have to say that this was a really pretty trio. All of the shades are very wearable including the metallic. This is definitely one of their more glamorous looking collections. I’m glad that I picked it up when I had the chance. Unfortunately this Lip Bundle is currently sold out, but it looks like the Super Shock Shadow Foursome is still available.

A little side note: I’m suddenly very aware of how I can’t seem to snap a face swatch photo without my hand by my neck. I looked back on my photos and notice that this wasn’t always the case. It seems to be a new thing since the move. I admit that it’s been tricky getting into a rhythm in the new place. My setup is very different. It’s much better, but I have to remember my best angles and such. Maybe bear with me while I work my way through this very awkward phase? Haha!

I’ve actually been sitting on this one for a while. I’ve been meaning to post it ever since my Holiday Haul post. Unfortunately it had to take a backseat for a while. Better late than never?

When I first saw promo photos for the collection I wasn’t totally sold. It looked great, but I just felt that they were shades I’ve seen already. Nothing really stood out. That is until I started seeing some swatches and looks and decided that I did in fact need it in my life. It really was too pretty to pass up! ColourPop really does go all out for their collections and I admit to falling for the hype. They make it so easy!

ColourPop X Kathleen Lights Dream PR Collection

This collaboration with Kathleen Lights consists of the Dream St. Pressed Powder Shadow Palette and the Dream Team Lip Bundle. The eyeshadow palette contains 12 eyeshadows. It’s a nice combination of mattes, metallics, and satins. The shadows are all nicely pigmented. The metallics are so soft and creamy that they just glide on! They all applied and blended beautifully. Then again most of their shadows do. I’ve only ever had an issue with a few of their mattes, but that wasn’t at all the case with this palette.

The lip bundle contains an Ultra Glossy Lip in the shade Moon Child which is a pink nude with gold glitter. This was my first time experimenting with their Ultra Glossy Lip. I was not disappointed! It wasn’t super sticky and it didn’t feel heavy on my lips. It was a very comfortable wear. I was very surprised. I wasn’t expecting to love this as much as I did. Next is the Ultra Satin Lip in the shade Dreamy which is a peachy pink. This has to be one of my new favorite shades from ColourPop. It’s gorgeous! I’m really digging the satin formula. It’s so comfortable! Last, but certainly not least is the Ultra Satin Lip in the shade Rêver which is a neon orange red. I had no idea that this was going to be so… neon! When I first put it on I had to take a step back. My first thought was ‘No way in hell am I leaving the house wearing this!’ But after looking at the photos I was convinced that it somehow works (with the palette). I think the more subtle eye look helped to tone it down a bit. I’m really digging it. It’s definitely a unique shade in my collection and a very fun one at that! You can see these lip shades along with the palette in action below.

Overall, I loved this collection. It contained a nice variety of the products ColourPop has to offer and the shades all compliment each other beautifully. I don’t think they still have the PR Collection in stock, but you can still purchase the products separately. I’ve listed them both below.

Bad Habit Aura Palette

I know things have slowed down a bit around here lately. I assure you that I have not lost interest. I have been working behind the scenes a bit, but I admit that my blog just hasn’t had my full attention. First, one of my oldest (childhood) friends got me hooked on a new game. Then my sister-in-law had her baby. He’s the cutest little guy and I just can’t get enough of him! He arrived at the perfect time and was just what I needed to drag me out of the good old Winter Blues. Seriously, I hate Winter! Mostly, I’ve been trying to get back into shape. I’ve been doing more exercises that my body is no longer used to so I end up getting hurt. I know they say the best thing to do is push through it so I kind of go back and forth. One day I’ll push through it and the other day I’m laying on the couch unable to move. Good times.

To sum it up, I’ve been juggling a lot and I need to manage my time better. The problem is that there’s just so much that I want to do and so little time. I’ll try harder though.

Today I’m going to be talking about one of my Hush App purchases that I mentioned in my Holiday Haul post. It’s the Bad Habit Aura Palette. It’s said to be a dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Prism Palette. It’s not an exact dupe, but most of the shades are very similar. I was even able to recreate a look someone made using the Prism Palette.

Bad Habit claims it features unique textures ranging from intensely pigmented mattes to ultra pearled metallics to shade shifting duo-chromes. I’m really digging the different textures as well as the shade selection. When I first opened this palette the first looks to come to mind were bold. However, you could just as easily tone it down and create a few neutral looks as well. Now onto my thoughts!

The Aura Palette is beautiful! I was very impressed with it. Not only did it swatch nicely, but the shadows applied and blended beautifully. Even some of the darker matte shades! Some of the mattes were a little on the powdery side, but I didn’t experience any issues. My only real complaint would be the shade Energy. It wasn’t anywhere near as vibrant as the yellow shade in the Prism Palette. I used this shade on the inner corner of my eye and had to build it up quite a bit to even get that kind of intensity. Which still isn’t much. Also, the shimmery shades apply much better with a dampened brush. I applied Ecstasy on my lid and when I applied it with a dampened brush that shade just popped! It makes a huge difference! You can see a look I created with Bad Habit Aura Palette below. I used Awakening in my crease, Vibe in my outer crease, Ecstasy on my lid, Energy on the inner corner of my eye, and Dreamstate on my brown bone.

Bad Habit Aura Palette

I really want to collect all of their palettes. Even the dupe for the Modern Renaissance Palette (which I already own and love). I just think that they’re surprisingly great quality for the price. I wasn’t expecting to love these palettes as much as I do. So be on the look out for more Bad Habit reviews.
