2018 Favorites

This is easily one of my favorite posts to write up every year. My favorite products of the year. Even though some of the products from my 2017 Favorites are still getting tons of use this year. What I like to do is run through my posts throughout the entire year and gather up my 10 favorite products. It’s a lot more difficult than it sounds. But I managed to narrow my list down to 10 favorites. Let’s take a look!

ColourPop Ooh La La! Palette

ColourPop Ooh La La! Palette
I told you this palette was going to make it to my 2018 Favorites. It’s such a beautiful little palette. The shades all compliment each other beautifully. They are incredibly pigmented. And the looks I created are easily some of my favorites.

Bath By Bex CBD Bath Bombs

Bath By Bex CBD Bath Bombs & Life Flower CBD Bath Bombs
2018 was year of the CBD for me. I started getting into it toward the end of 2017 right around the time my husband had surgery. I was a nervous wreck and my anxiety was at an all time high. My husband actually got me some products to try and I’ve been experimenting ever since. While I love the effects of the oils and edibles, the bath bombs are a real treat. There’s nothing I love more than a nice, relaxing, hot bath. These CBD bath bombs take the relaxation part to a whole new level. They make for the most relaxing bath ever! It relaxes my muscles by easing aches, pains, and tension. And it helps me to sleep better at night. If you take anything away from this list, let it be these bath bombs. There are many places that make them, but these 2 are my favorites so far.

Wet n Wild Highlighting Bar in Platinum

Wet n Wild Highlighting Bar in Platinum
I was really excited to see that Wet n Wild added to their Gold Bar Highlighter Collection. I remember going everywhere to try and track them down. Once I had the chance to test them all I found that the Platinum Bar was my favorite. It has been one of my most reached for highlighters ever since.

Derma E Hydrating Facial Wipes

Derma E Hydrating Facial Wipes
This year I was diagnosed with rosacea. I had to replace a lot of my skin care products. Wipes especially. These are incredibly gentle on my super sensitive skin and they smell so nice! I now have a drawer full of them.

The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer

The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer
This year I finally got around to testing out some of The Ordinary products. Some of them worked out and others didn’t. This primer on the other hand really impressed me. I know a lot of people say that they don’t feel like primers make much of a difference. But I swear this primer helps my makeup to go on smoother and makes it look more even. All for just under $5.00!

e.l.f. Heart Defensor Highlighter Palette

e.l.f. Heart Defensor Highlighter Palette
Boy did it ever take me a while to finally get my hands on this highlighter! I can definitely see what the fuss was all about. Everything about this highlighter was a hit. The packaging and the pigmentation. It currently sits in my most reached for drawer alongside the majority of these items.

Jouer Lip Topper in Sweetheart

Jouer Lip Topper in Sweetheart
This year Jouer has become a favorite brand of mine. I found myself drawn to quite a few of their new products. If I had to narrow it down to one favorite it would have to be the Lip Topper in Sweetheart. It’s the most gorgeous red with pink and gold flecks. I reach for it often.

Esqido The Unisyn Collection

Esqido The Unisyn Collection
I could hardly contain my excitement when I opened this beautiful package. These lashes are gorgeous! I love the packaging too. Not only do they display the beauty that is these lashes, but they slide in and out making access that much easier. Photographing these lashes was a lot of fun.

Bad Habit Athena Palette

Bad Habit Beauty Athena Palette
When I first heard about this palette it was sold out for a while. Once it came back in stock I ordered it. I think it’s my favorite Bad Habit Beauty Palette. I was really impressed with the quality of the shadows. They’re so pigmented and they apply and blend beautifully. Hard to believe that it’s just $14.00. My review states $12.00. It has since gone up in price. But even with the increase it’s still a great price.

Sky Organics Organic Rosewater Facial Mist

Sky Organics Organic Rosewater Facial Mist
Another product that I heard was great for rosacea is rose water. I wasn’t sure which one to try and then I happened to stumble upon this one from Sky Organics. I apply it after cleansing in the morning and night. It does wonders for flareups instantly soothing my sensitive skin.

CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser
I had to add a bit of a bonus favorite. Like I mentioned earlier, I was diagnosed with rosacea this year and had to replace a lot of my skin care products. A lot of my go-to cleansers were causing more harm than good. I have to admit that it took me a long time to get used to this cleanser. It’s highly recommended for those of us with certain skin conditions such as rosacea. Once I got used to it I found that I actually love it. I feel like it can be a little heavy at times, but it removes makeup all while being incredibly gentle. It doesn’t dry out my skin. It’s a lot easier to purchase since most stores carry it and I can even use coupons.

*I received some of these products complimentary. I was not paid or compensated in any way to write this post. All opinions are completely my own.

ColourPop Rendezvous Palette

Swatches: Release, Fling, Two Birds, Textual, Never Never, Let’s Do It

Of course I had to sneak one last ColourPop product in before the year ends. When I saw that Ulta was getting TWO ColourPop palettes exclusive to them I had to break my Ulta ban and order one. The Rendezvous Palette had my name all over it! Just look at those shades!

The Rendezvous Palette contains 12 eyeshadows. It’s a nice balance of metallics and mattes. The bolder shades are what really stood out to me. As you can tell from the swatches they are nicely pigmented. Textual is the only shadow that needed to be built up a bit. It’s a tad patchy too. It applies much better on the lid and does blend out ok, but it’s definitely not one of their better mattes. It’s still cooperative though. You just have to work with it a little. Aside from that the other shades applied and blended beautifully. I’ve already created a few looks with this palette.

I’m really trying to get in the habit of creating at least 2 different looks to go along with palette reviews. Even though I do reach for my palettes more than once, I rarely follow up and share my other looks. So I’m going to try and do just that going into the new year.

Anyway, you can see a few looks I created with the Rendezvous Palette below.

The gloss I’m wearing in the first look is Dust2Dust from the Flying Colours Liquid Lipstick Vault. I’m trying to work shades I haven’t swatched yet into looks so that you can see them all.

Overall, I’d have to say it’s another great palette from ColourPop. If you’re into bold colorful shades I think you’ll love it.

Pixi Beauty PixiGlow Cake in PinkChampagne Glow

Pixi Beauty PixiGlow Cake in PinkChampagne Glow

Swatches: GildedBare Glow, PinkChampagne Glow

I haven’t tried much from Pixi Beauty. I have a few eyeshadow duos that I received from monthly subscription boxes stored in my tool box. I remember them being nicely pigmented. Other than that I haven’t tried anything else from the brand. And I seriously must be one of the only people in the beauty community who hasn’t tried their popular Glow Tonic yet. I keep meaning to, but whenever I’m at Target I forget why I’m there. I end up leaving with a ton of stuff none of which is the reason I stopped there in the first place. One day…

To say that I was surprised to see this beautiful package on my doorstep would be a huge understatement. I may have jumped up and down a bit. I love blush and highlighters. And these ombre type palettes are my absolute favorite! The PixiGlow Cake is a 3-in-1 cheek palette containing contour, blush and highlighter all in one. You can use the shades individually or swirl them together for a beautiful natural glow. They contain ceramides to help restore skin’s moisture barrier, peptides to plump and firm, and grape seed extract to improve skin’s elasticity.

The PixiGlow Cake comes in the shades GildedBare Glow and PinkChampagne Glow. Today I will be talking about PinkChampagne Glow. In the swatches I swirled the 3 shades together. You can see what I mean about the beautiful natural glow. It’s so soft that it just melts onto my skin. It’s nicely pigmented and can easily be built up. I was really worried about overdoing it with this shade, but it surprisingly looked very natural. It ended up being my favorite of the two.

In my look below I used the two darker shades for my cheek color. I used the lighter shade for my highlight. I actually went in with a slightly heavy hand so that you could see how nicely it layers. I got compliments on this look all day long! It really is gorgeous and all kinds of glowy.

Pixi Beauty PixiGlow Cake in PinkChampagne Glow

Overall, I’d have to say that the PixiGlow Cake in PinkChampagne Glow is a winner! I was excepting to like the GildedBare Glow more because it was more neutral, but PinkChampagne Glow really impressed me. Not only is it gorgeous, but these types of palettes are so handy for taking on the go. No need to pack up 3 separate items. Just pack this baby up and you’re good to go. I’ve already moved it into my most used drawer. I love it that much!

The selfie light was a nice bonus. You can see a photo I snapped with my iPhone using the selfie light on my Instagram stories highlight. It should be in the PR Unboxing section. I’m not sure if the light will be available for purchase or if it was just something they included in their PR boxes. I would definitely buy one though. I never thought to try one because I have my own lighting. But it’s pretty handy if you don’t have other lighting or if you want to take selfies on the go.

Have you tried the PixiGlow Cakes yet? What are your favorite Pixi Beauty products?
