Swatch: MAC Cinderella Royal Ball Lipstick

The MAC Cinderella collection is a collection I REALLY wanted to love. But nothing really jumped out at me. The shades are soft and neutral. Basically what you’d expect from a Cinderella collection. The packaging is super cute, but I’ve kind of grown out of buying things JUST for the packaging. Still, I felt like I should at least try something from this collection. As I looked through my tool box I realized that I didn’t own that many nude lipsticks so I added Royal Ball to my wishlist. And that’s really all I ended up getting. Of course during the checkout process I tried convincing myself that I needed the Stroke of Midnight palette. But I stood my ground and didn’t buy into the hype. That doesn’t mean it’s not a pretty palette. It just means that I only have like 50 similar palettes/shades laying around.

Anyway, Royal Ball is a lustre and described as fleshy pink. It looks really frosty on my lips and while I don’t typically go for that sort of look, I actually like this. It did take a little getting used to, but after a little while I really started to love it. I think it has a nice elegant look to it. Totally Cinderella-like. I got about 2 hours of wear time before it started to fade. I found it to be pretty comfortable too. I’m glad I decided to get it after all. It’s a nice addition to my collection.

MAC Eye Shadow X9: Burgundy Times Nine

Swatches: Honey Lust, Poppyseed, Quarry, Antiqued, Embark

Swatches: #Noir, Haux, Star Violet, Sketch

When I made my MAC Cinderella collection purchase I decided to pick up the Burgundy Times Nine palette as well. I really do love my MAC palettes! And this one really jumped out at me. The shadows are smaller than the average pan size. However, I personally like having more shadows in a smaller package. It’s like a sampling of lots of pretty shadows that compliment each other nicely. It’s also perfect for traveling (which I’ve been doing a lot more of lately).

There are 4 X9 palettes total. Amber, Purple, Navy, and Burgundy. Burgundy contains Honey Lust (bronze dipped peach/lustre), Poppyseed (midtone mauvey nude/satin), Quarry (soft muted plum brown/matte), Antiqued (ash brown with bronze/veluxe pearl), Embark (intense reddish brown/matte), #Noir (deep black brown w/ gold pearls/velvet), Haux (soft muted rosy brown/satin), Star Violet (pinky brown plum/veluxe pearl), and Sketch (burgundy with red shimmer/velvet). Surprisingly I don’t have any of these shades in my collection already which made my decision that much easier. I’m really loving Star Violet! It’s just so pretty!

Below you can see a look I created using this palette. I used Star Violet on my lid (I actually slightly wet it with my Fix+ before applying it), Haux in my crease, Sketch in my outer crease and lower lash line (I slightly wet it with Fix+ before applying to lower lash line), and Honey Lust on the inner corner of my eye and brow bone.

Did you get any of the X9 palettes? If so, which one? What are your thoughts?

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Celebrity Skin

Swatch: Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Celebrity Skin

Here’s a makeup line that I’ve been waiting on for… ever? Yes, I’m a bit of a fangirl. I’m a little bummed that all I managed to get was Celebrity Skin, but it’s every bit as awesome as I imagined. I’d really like to get my hands on Redrum and I’m Royalty too.

I really like these types of lipsticks because they feel so comfortable. Some of the others I have in my collection tend to be drying at times, but this one wasn’t. I prepped my lips before application (lip scrub followed by a light application of lip balm) and even then I still had some dry patches. It still applied perfectly and you can’t even tell that my lips were a little chapped. At least I don’t think you can.

The applicator is pillowy soft and made for a nice, comfortable application. My lipstick stayed put all night with very little fading. Surprisingly I don’t own many nudes, but the few I do have require a lot of prep work in order for me to pull it off. This is definitely a more comfortable nude for me. I absolutely love it and I’m not surprised at all. Why wouldn’t I expect awesomeness? Even the packaging is amazing. Pink AND stars? Love it!

Dear Jeffree, please give us more! Lots and lots more!
