Swatches: Mint Chip, Kanfetti

I don’t post a whole lot of nail polish reviews around here. I almost always paint my toenails and sometimes paint my fingernails. But the thing is… if I’m being completely honest, I wouldn’t come to me for a nail swatch. It’s no secret that I’ve got nubs for fingernails. I sometimes let them grow a bit, but I’m just far too active to have long enough nails for decent swatches. It is what it is. So why am I posting about nail polish now? Well, you break the rules for Kandee Johnson!

When I saw this collection I just had to scoop up a few polishes. They’re all so pretty! The polishes shown above are Pink Velvet, Mint Chip, and Kanfetti. Pink Velvet is a rosy pink with golden sparkle and a sweet sugar-textured finish. Mint Chip is a pretty minty vintage green with a matte finish. Kanfetti is a fun pastel blue, pink, and green sparkling glitter. In my nail swatch I’m wearing one coat of Mint Chip topped with Kanfetti. Mint Chip applied beautifully. It was opaque with just the one coat. I didn’t experience any streaking either. I’m really impressed with how beautifully it applied. Kanfetti was a little tricky to work with. It’s so thick that it was difficult distributing the glitter onto the nail. I was really hoping to add more of that glitter to my nails, but it just wasn’t happening.

I really do think this is a beautiful collection. The colors are all fun, pretty, and everything I’d expect from a Kandee Johnson collab. The polishes were surprisingly very easy to work with. Well, all except for Kanfetti. I was just really hoping for lots and lots of sparkle!

There are 7 polishes in the collection and they’re $1.99 each. I’ve spotted displays at Walgreens and K-Mart.
