I really try not to fall into the hype surrounding new products, but I admit that sometimes I do get sucked in. When I heard everyone raving about the e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer and saw that it was sold out everywhere online, I started my hunt. I finally tracked them down at a Walmart.
So what’s the big deal about this primer? It’s said to be a dupe for the Tatcha The Silk Canvas Protective Primer. I haven’t tried the Tatcha primer, but I assure you that it’s on my wishlist. I was able to test it out in person at Sephora, but unfortunately they were sold out. Let me tell you, it smelled amazing! The e.l.f. primer doesn’t smell like much of anything.
The e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer is infused with squalane that they claim helps grip makeup for all-day wear while protecting the skin from moisture loss. It’s very soft and creamy and just melts into the skin. A little goes a long way, but I didn’t feel like it gave me trouble while trying to spread it out. It spread out nicely and evenly. It did help my makeup to go on nicely, but that’s pretty much where the pros end. My makeup started to break up after only a few short hours. I always get a full days wear with my go-to primers. I guess you can’t complain much over an $8.00 primer, but it kind of makes you wonder about all of the hype. Maybe I’m missing something?
Overall, I’d have to say that the e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer was just ok. I do love the idea of it and it did apply nicely. But I’m going to need a primer to last more than a few hours. I suppose it’s ok if you’re running out to the store real quick, but if you’re planning to wear this to work you might be disappointed. And I shudder to think of how this will hold up in the Summer.
Have you tried the e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer or the Tatcha The Silk Canvas Protective Primer? What are your thoughts?

I hear that!
Thank you for the honest review! Many said this is a dupe for Tatcha primer but I think I will stick to the real thing.

After finally trying the Tatcha primer I can tell you that the real deal is where it’s at. They are similar in a few ways, but definitely not a dupe.
Overall i feel it sounds good for the bucks you pay for it..i really love loreal base magique for primer..

I haven’t tried the Loreal. But yes I suppose you can’t complain much for the price paid. Although I do have a $5 primer that even lasts longer than a few hours so lol.
And here I was thinking of buying this primer next! Nope, I shall look for something else within budget. Thanks for this review, Lisa :)

Glad you found it to be helpful. I know many have stated how much they love it, but it just didn’t work for me. :(
