I’m so happy to see the Jeffree Star Cosmetics line expanding. I’m even happier to see some really nice wearable shades. Like Androgyny. The swatches really sold me on this one. It’s the perfect shade! It looks beautiful on everyone I’ve seen wearing it. I was so excited to finally make it mine. I actually ordered from Beautylish this time. Shipping was so fast! I was really impressed. Ok now onto the good stuff.
Androgyny is described as a plum mauve. It was exactly what I was expecting! However, when I leaned in for a sniff (am I seriously the only one who does this?) it smelled really bad. It was pretty strong too. It wasn’t a rancid smell. It smelled very strong of chemicals or something. And it smelled just as bad when I went to apply it. However, once it dried down the smell disappeared. I really hope it’s nothing to worry about. I’ve never experienced anything like this before. My husband claims he couldn’t smell anything and insisted it was my upper lip (seriously).
Strong scent aside, it applied perfectly. I really love these applicators. They’re so soft and make for the perfect application! It felt really lightweight and comfortable. It started to feel a little dry around 6 hours, but not overly so. It lasted through a day of walking trails, Mexican food, and coffee. When I went to wash it off before bed there was still a hint of it there.
I really don’t know what to make of the scent, but it’s the most gorgeous lipstick! And my friend assures me that it’s nothing to worry about. Honestly, that’s all the convincing I need. You can see Androgyny in action below.
Olaaa mama, that is a stunning shade indeed! I was just thinking through my lipstick collection and somehow I don’t have much mauve, I think it’s time to change that.

Yes! That’s why it was odd. None of them have a scent. But this one is just really bad. It does go away after it dries down though.

I had a similar experience with the Bourjois liquid lipsticks – smell really, really chemically but once dry seem fine.. It’s off-putting though. Looks great on you! x

this is the one LL brand i haven’t tried. glad to know it’s worth the hype!! i always miss them when they restock, so i’ll be getting some next time!

Yeah they seem to sell out pretty fast, but they restock fairly often which is great.
So what I’ve heard is that the scent is the raw ingredients. Meaning they didn’t add a scent to mask the smell. They have now been adding scents like cotton candy so the smell isn’t so in your face. Masochist is amazing! I want it. <3

This is such a soft color…I love liquid matte lipsticks and this one sounds amazing…I might look for it online :)
