This is my first Jouer purchase. I also have a blush that I’m planning to review later on. But for now I’ll be talking about the Jouer Hydrating Lipstick in Meg.

I’ve actually never heard of Jouer until recently. I stumbled upon the website and decided that I really liked the looks of their lipsticks. They sounded wonderful and looked soft and elegant. I just had to try one. Here’s the description from the website ‘With a sensationally smooth, soft finish and powerful moisturizing properties of Brazil’s Cupuaçu Butter, this hydrating lipstick keeps lips protected and nourished with enduring beautiful coverage. A perfect balance of beauty and treatment.’ After seeing swatches of Meg I decided that was the lipstick I was going to start with.

Meg is described as a creamy honey pink. First let me talk about the packaging. I absolutely love the feel of this lipstick. It’s so smooth… sleek! It’s simple yet elegant. I just really like the way it feels in my hands. It’s unlike any other tube I own. Now onto the good stuff. In the swatches above you can see how it looks with one swipe vs built up. It’s a beautiful pink shade after a few swipes. On the lips not so much. In fact my hand swatch looks nothing like my lip swatch. I’m a little bummed about that. However, it does make for a beautiful nude. I just really wish that some of that pink pulled through on the lips. I wasn’t expecting something super pigmented, but I really was expecting PINK. Or at least some pink!

Shade issues aside, it did glide onto my lips effortlessly. They weren’t kidding when they said creamy. This lipstick is incredibly creamy and moisturizing! It made for a very comfortable wear. It lasted about 3-4 hours before I had to reapply. And it reapplied just as nicely.

Overall I wouldn’t say that this turned out to be a dud. While I’m not overly impressed I do love the packaging and the formula. The shade was a little more sheer than I’d like, but I can still work with that. Nothing a little lip liner action can’t fix. I’ll definitely try some more stuff from Jouer. Including the blush that I’m still testing out. So be on the lookout for that soon! In the meantime you can see Meg in action below.

  1. It’s a little surprising to see that it’s so sheer on your lips. In the hand swatch I was also expecting more vibrancy. I’ve seen Jouer at the Birchbox store and it’s on my to-buy list (in darker shades).

  2. I only ever tried a Jouer blush, none of the lip products. The formula sounds lovely though. A pity that the shade doesn’t live up to expectation.

    • Thank you so much! :) Yes, the liquid lipstick is next on my list! I really wanted to try some from the Mermaid Collection, but it sold out before I had the chance to buy one.

  4. Sad about the no-pink color think! I love the packaging too!

  5. This looks like a great shade for days that you don’t want to fuss to much. I have yet to try this brand, though it’s on my list. I love hearing your feedback!

  6. The colour of the lipstick in the bullet looks so different to the swatch on your hand, which in turn looks so different to it on your lips! It can be so difficult getting a true idea of the colour of lipsticks sometimes xx

    • It’s different all the way around lol. That’s why I hate shopping online sometimes. But with some brands I have no choice since I can’t watch in person.

  7. I’ve never tried anything from Jouer, but like you said the packaging looks great. I’m surprised you didn’t try one of their liquid lipsticks! ;)
