2. Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel
3. Supergoop!® Everyday SPF 50 with Cellular Response Technology
4. Dr. Jart+ BB Night Beauty Balm
5. L. Erickson Narrow Grab and Go Pony
6. Marcelle Mini Waterproof Eyeliner Travel Kit

This month’s Birchbox is definitely more interesting than last month’s. I’ll totally get use out of more than half of these items so that’s a plus. Let’s dig in!

I’m especially excited about the amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo. I’ve been wanting to try a dry shampoo for a while, but had no idea where to start. This is a pretty decent sized sample too so I’m sure I’ll be able to determine whether or not it’s a keeper. I’ll be sure to report back.

I’m a little scared to experiment with peels. Is that weird? My skin is on the sensitive side so I’m very careful when it comes to skincare. I’m more of a less is more kinda girl in that department. I don’t mind experimenting with new skincare products, but the word peel just raises way too many red flags for me. So even though the Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel sounds like a great product with some really nice packaging, I’m going to have to pass this on to someone who will use it.

The Supergoop!® Everyday SPF 50 with Cellular Response Technology will definitely get some use! My family and I don’t live far from the lake and visit a few times a week. We’re always out and about and my horrible uneven tan is proof of that. And sunscreen always comes in handy.

The Dr. Jart+ BB Night Beauty Balm looks good, but truthfully I don’t think it’s something I’m interested in.

I’m really looking forward to loving and then losing the L. Erickson Narrow Grab and Go Pony. Because no matter how many hair bands I buy they eventually all turn up missing. Anyway, it’s said to be sturdy and at first it really does appear to be. But my hair is super thick and when I went to wrap it around I did hear it start to tear a bit. I’m hoping to get at least a few uses out of it.

Last, but certainly not least, the Marcelle Mini Waterproof Eyeliner Travel Kit in the shade Electric Blue. While I wish I had gotten Blue Lagoon, Electric Blue is really pretty. It applies nicely and feels pretty smooth. It’s nicely pigmented and appears to have a little sparkle action going on. I’ll definitely work this beauty into a few looks. You can see some swatches below.

The description on Birchbox claims once it sets it won’t budge. After swatching it on my hand I let it set for about a half hour before taking pictures. I wiped my finger across the swatch and well, it does in fact budge. However, when I went to wash it off with soap and water? Sucker wasn’t budging! I had to use makeup remover. So maybe don’t forget it’s there and go and wipe your eyes? Hey, I’ve done that a few times. It’s not pretty. But definitely wear it while watching Game of Thrones since those bastards like making us all cry.

On that note I’m taking my sunscreen and going for a walk. Hope you enjoyed the weekend!

  1. Seems like a nice box o’stuff! I’m with you on the peel. No need to make my face flaky. You could try a patch test on the side of your face .. see if it’s going to irritate your skin.

    • Yes, you’re right! Great tip! I’ve had some bad experiences in the past and well, I’ve been hurt before lol. :)

  2. One can never have too much sunscreen, especially if it comes with anti-ageing benefits.

  3. I have not tried Birchbox because the Canada version sucks! UK and US seems to get all the good boxes and us Canadians get crap. LOL! I love Marcell, they are higher price point for drugstore but the quality is great!

    • Awww that sucks! But yes, the eyeliner really is quite nice. I was really surprised. Usually I just toss them aside, but this one caught my attention.

    • Thank you, Annie! It really is fun getting a nice little package every month. Well, when it’s a good one anyway lol. :)

  6. This looks like a nice box of goodies. The shade of the eye liner looks ideal for summer. I’d love to use it smudged out on the bottom lush line with a smokey eye. :)
