Swatches: Gold Glitter, Strawberry Shortcake, Gold Glitter on top of Strawberry Shortcake

I first heard about LipSense on Agata’s blog. I was surprised I hadn’t heard about it sooner since I’m a bit of a liquid lipstick fanatic. But I swear, ever since then I’ve seen it everywhere. Facebook, Pinterest, and I’ve even had friends asking me about it. So you can imagine how excited I was when Sonya from RedGateBeauty.com sent me my very first LipSense!

So what is LipSense? It’s a waterproof, transferproof, liquid lip color. It claims to last anywhere from 4-18 hours! There are many shades to choose from and you can even mix and match to create your very own custom shade!

Unlike other liquid lipsticks on the market, LipSense application requires a few extra steps. First you apply 3 layers. Then you top it off with the gloss of your choice to seal that color in while keeping your lips moisturized. It seems like a lot of work, but it’s surprisingly not. And that little bit of extra effort really pays off in the long run because you’re left with a gorgeous look that truly is long lasting.

Here’s my experience with LipSense. I chose the shade Strawberry Shortcake with the Gold Glitter Gloss. I thought it would be a pretty combo and boy was I right! The gloss is so pretty and sparkly, but a more wearable kind of sparkly. The LipSense applied nice and evenly. I did notice a bit of a tingling sensation when I swatched it on my hand and when I applied the first layer on my lips. It goes away within a few seconds though. After applying the 3rd layer the color was looking really pretty, but my lips felt tacky. That all changed when I applied the Gold Glitter Gloss. Afterward there was a slight tackiness, but it wasn’t overly sticky like most glosses. I wouldn’t say that it felt lightweight. I definitely noticed it on the lips. However, it still made for a pretty comfortable wear. My only issue was the scent. There’s a bit of a strong floral fragrance that really does linger. Other than that I found it to be a really great liquid lipstick. You can see Strawberry Shortcake LipSense with the Gold Glitter Gloss in action below.

Now for a little advice. If you’re like me and are used to removing your liquid lipstick with a makeup removing wipe, you’re going to be in for a surprise. I would suggest getting the LipSense Oops Remover unless you’re ok with taking a few layers of skin off your lips. These lipsticks really don’t budge! After wiping and scrubbing with various removers, I finally whipped out the rubbing alcohol. I wouldn’t suggest that method, but hey it did work.

LipSense and RedGateBeauty

Overall, I’d say it really is a great liquid lipstick. I can see them coming in handy for work or a night out. Because all you’d have to do is reapply the gloss and your lipstick will stay put! Check out RedGateBeauty.com to give LipSense a try!

  1. These definitely sound very long-lasting! I don’t think we have Lip Sense in Ireland xx

  2. I have heard and seen Lip Scence all over IG for awhile now but the only thing that has kept me from ordering is the part about how it doesn’t want to come off without a good effort. I mean I am all for it not transferring but I don’t want to rip my lips off while removing either. LOL…. I think the shades are gorgeous (Especially the combo u chose) it looks so pretty on u Lisa!

    • Awww thank you, Julie! Yeah removal was a bit of a project. But the alcohol seemed to do the trick. But it wasn’t very pleasant lol.

  3. Rubbing alcohol? Wowee! That lipstick is no joke. The end result looks like it is well worth it, though. I love that color on you.

  5. wow these did stay pretty damn good, rubbing alcohol!!! it looks pretty with sparkle gloss on :)

  6. That shade is gorgeoussss it looks beautiful on you 💕

  7. I tried my first Lipsense a few months ago myself. I wasn’t a huge fan sadly. I found it to tingle on my lips a fair bit and it was pretty sticky (even though it went away after a while, which I think it says it does that or something). What I disliked most was the chemical-ly scent and taste. The colour was nice though. I have one of their nude matte shades (can’t remember what it’s called) but I haven’t worn it since.

    • Awww that’s too bad! I did experience a bit of tingling too, but it didn’t last long for me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
