By now y’all should know just how much I love me some LORAC. Which is why it hurts me to admit that I just didn’t care for the LORAC Private Affair Palette. I get it, you can’t win ‘em all. But I really really really wanted to like this palette. Unfortunately I just couldn’t make it work for me.
The palette contains 6 eyeshadows in creamy beige with pearl, champagne rose with shimmer, soft taupe with pearl, platinum grey with pearl, deep wine with shimmer, and black with sparkle. It also contains a double ended brush and an eye primer. I found the packaging to be cute. Under the eyeshadows is a compartment which holds the brush and primer. The lid was bothersome for me. I like being able to keep the lid open while I apply my eyeshadow, but this lid just wouldn’t stay open. I know it’s not the worst thing in the world to deal with, but it was a hassle opening the lid every time I needed more product. Which brings me to the eyeshadows… I tried everything in my power to make these eyeshadows work and no matter what combo I used it all looked like ONE color. I don’t get it either because it swatched so beautifully! Seriously, look at those swatches! Gorgeous! But the moment the product hit my lids it was all downhill from there. I ended up with a ‘muddy’ sort of look and the fallout didn’t help matters. Eventually I gave up.
Do you own the LORAC Private Affair Palette? Did you have better luck with it? Maybe my eyelids are a lot pickier than I thought? But hey, sometimes a product just doesn’t work for you. At least that’s what I keep telling myself as I stare at the swatches trying so hard to keep from sobbing.
