Play! by Sephora: March 2017

The award for the lamest Play! by Sephora box goes to the month of March! Let’s get on with it… I guess.

I’ll start with the most exciting item in the box. The Glamglow Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer. The brand is appealing to me and I hear nothing but great things. Their packaging is always really colorful and cute. So I’m very excited to see this included in the box this month. This moisturizer is a hydrating, super-charged cream with iridescent illuminating pearl particles to blur, reflect, and enhance your complexion for an instant luminous finish. I received the shade Nude Glow. Sephora has 2 other shades available in Pearl Glow and Sun Glow. I’ll have to properly review this beauty.

I don’t even know what to say about the addition of the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I mean it is my go-to primer, but it’s really not exciting. And who doesn’t already have about a dozen of these laying around?

The Benefit Cosmetics Watt’s Up! Cream-to-Powder Highlighter is a champagne cream-to-powder highlighter. And I have about 3 of them in my sample drawer. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

You know what else I have a ton of? Hair oils! I’m sure the Verb Ghost Oil will get some use and I’m kind of digging the packaging. But I would have preferred to see something different included in my box this month.

I haven’t tried a lot of Josie Maran products and I would like to. But I don’t think the Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm would have been my first choice. It’s a skin care finisher and makeup primer in one. It sounds interesting and I’ll definitely give it a try, but it’s not really my kinda thing. I would have loved to see the Argan Enlightenment Illuminizer included instead.

The Atelier Cologne Clémentine California Cologne Absolue Pure Perfume is pretty nice. It has a nice, sweet, citrus scent that I found to be quite refreshing. It’s not something I plan to run out and purchase a full size bottle of, but I will use up the sample.

So there you have it. The least exciting box ever.

  1. I actually really lil ethos box because I don’t have any of the products lying around in my spare drawer. LOL! I do understand why you’re bumped about it though, I would be disappointed too if I already have the products.

    • Ah yeah I just assumed everyone and their mama had half of these samples already. They just seem to be the samples I keep on getting no matter where I go lol!

  2. You are right, only Glamglow moisturizer sounds exciting and i would love to read your review on you.

  5. I agree with you, the products are nothing to be excited about, probably everybody already has most of these! I would like to know about the Josie Maran finishing balm.

  7. I got exact same products as you and I am not happy with it either. I am happy to try the Glam Glow moisturizer but that’s about it…I wish they included some new highlighters, especially with so many new launches.

  9. Ugh, I’m sorry you got so many repeats in your box! :( That moisturizer does sound very promising, though.

  10. I really appreciate your honesty with this post. I know I have way too many urban decay eye shadow primer samples, and although I love Glam Glow, most of us already received a GlamGlow product in our December (I think it was December) boxes.

Hopefully Sephora Play steps it up in April.

    • Yeah I’m really hoping for a better box this month. But I haven’t tried this product from Glam Glow so I’m at least excited about that one.

  11. Sad to know that this box is not upto your expectation mark. :(

  12. For once I like my box a lot more than yours, lol! I think I would have been really bummed to receive a UDPP and Benefit What’s Up as well… But I got a UD metallic lipstick and Becca liquid highlighter instead, and I’m actually very happy with this box. I like that it has a strong theme (the glow) and that I can try several products to achieve the trendy glowing skin effect.
But I would also have preferred samples of brand new highlighter formulas, for example not the classic Opal shade for the Becca one.

    • Yeah they definitely gave me the crap everyone has been getting since the beginning of time lol. I would have preferred your box as well. :)
