A quick update

Yikes! It’s been a while! I actually have a few posts ready to go, but I felt that an update would be better than just jumping into a review.

As I mentioned before I’ve been really busy. I don’t like to just have posts go live without knowing when I’ll be able to respond back to comments. And as much as I tried to make it back sooner I just didn’t know when things were going to slow down. Christmas is a very busy season for my company. Good news for me, but bad news for my blog. Plus my son has been home for the past 2 weeks. I’ve been trying to take advantage of that by getting him to help me reorganize his room.

Which brings me to another project that’s been taking up all of my time. We’ve completely refurnished and reorganized the apartment. When we first moved in it was only supposed to be temporary. Knowing us we could still move at any time. However, it’s unlikely. For now. This place wasn’t my first pick. It’s incredibly small. In fact it’s so small that we had to get rid of so much before moving in. Which I guess is a good thing. It really forced me to declutter. Not that my home has ever been cluttered. I’ve always kept things very organized and simple. But I had a ton of appliances that I just never used. They seemed like a good idea at the time, but I just never got around to using them. Rather than have them take up much needed space I finally got rid of them. It’s also a very old looking place. I can’t even tell you how much the wood paneled walls bug me. Lots of people don’t see a problem with it, but I do. Besides looking outdated it gives the place a dark and gloomy vibe. But we’ve livened it up quite a bit since moving in. So it’s not so bad anymore. In the end moving here was the best decision we’ve made. I never wanted to settle because I truly believed this was a temporary move. But whether we move tomorrow or next year I see no problem in making this place more livable for the time being. With as much as we’ve moved in the past I always felt that livening up our living space was a waste. But if doing so makes you feel more comfortable and leaves you feeling more at home, is it really a waste? I don’t think so. Live in the moment, eh?

I’m pretty happy with the end result. I would have gone in a slightly different direction with my son’s room, but considering the fact that my husband didn’t get in my way of redecorating the entire apartment (our bedroom included), I figured I owed him that. Maybe I’ll post some photos?

Christmas was pretty great. We spent Christmas Eve at my mother-in-law’s house. It’s not my favorite place in the world to visit, but she made tamales and they were actually pretty good. For my Christmas dinner I made stuffed shells and served it with a nice salad. Everyone was happy, healthy, and got everything they wanted and more. What more could we ask for?

As for me? There wasn’t much on my wishlist really. I got the new Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette. I’m working on getting that post up. I also finally got my hands on MAC Smoked Purple. My husband got me a new wallet and handbag. Aside from that there wasn’t much else on my wihslist. So I updated the appliances I use regularly. I’ll probably do a review on a few of them. I got a new stand mixer, blender, toaster, food processor, and Keurig. So far I’m very happy with them all.

Now I can get back into my routine of regular Monday, Thursday, and Saturday posts. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

Oh and I know that the comments are looking all kinds of funky. In the midst of all this WordPress updated. Because why not? I’ve never been much of a coder. There’s a right way and a wrong way. I’ve always fell somewhere in between both of them. Leaning more towards the wrong way if I’m being truthful. But hey it worked and that was good enough for me. But now I’m left with trying to figure out how to style the comments because the method I used before is no longer an option for me. Now I have to try and figure out what to do. Or hire someone to do it for me. If I can even figure out how to do that! It’ll get done. Eventually.

    • Oh definitely! But it’s good keeping busy. I just wish I had more time for other things. Thankfully the holiday season is over and done with so that it can go back to normal.

Happy New Year to you too, Shireen! <3

  2. It’s good to hear from you! It’s good that you’re making some positive changes in your apartment. I know it’s hard to feel like building a nest when you move a lot, but I think it’s important for your well-being. Just a few accessories and cushions and things already look a lot more homey! I’ve moved 8 times in the past 10 years, and sometimes I still wake up at night not remembering where I am…

    • You’re right! It is important. I’m feeling so much better now. Even a few minor changes can make a difference. And I’ve woken up not knowing where I am too. What an odd feeling, huh?

  3. Christmas time is very busy for all of us, I guess, and sometimes the blog just has to take a back seat. As long as you are feeling happy with what is going on, that is what counts.
And I can feel you on leaving things in an in-between status when renting, we have been the same for years now, still having some rooms at our flat that we aren’t satisfied with (office, bedroom, bathroom… pretty much everything except nursery and living room), so I am excited to get it all done after our next (and final) move in 2016.

    Happy New Year!

    • Yes! I keep telling myself that I’m not going to invest anymore until we make our final move, but who knows when that will be? We’re forever changing our minds. I guess it’s ok to make yourself comfortable for the time being. However long that may be.

      Happy New Year, Anne!

  4. Glad your Christmas was nice! Can’t wait to see your review as this is on my possible wish list. Hope you have a lovely new year.
