I believe the first palette I ever tried from Anastasia Beverly Hills was the Modern Renaissance Palette. It’s such a beautiful palette and one that I still reach for. When Subculture came out I went crazy trying to make it mine because I loved Modern Renaissance so much and hoped it would be similar quality. Sadly, for me it wasn’t. Ever since I’ve been a little hesitant with the new palette releases. Even if the color story really stands out to me. That is until I laid my eyes on the Sultry Palette.

I was really drawn to the beautiful, shimmery packaging. It looked all kinds of glamorous. The shades were a perfect combination of neutrals with the most gorgeous pop of coral to tie it all together. I imagined all of the beautiful holiday looks I could create with it.

I read many reviews before deciding to make my purchase. Funny thing is no one mentioned that the gorgeous shimmery packaging was a bit of a glitter fest! Don’t get me wrong. It’s even more beautiful in person. But I wasn’t expecting textured glitter. It’s impossible to touch it without getting glitter everywhere. I really wish it was sealed in so that you get all of the glamour without the mess. Glittery bits aside, it really is a beautiful palette. Inside and out!

The Sultry Palette contains 14 eyeshadows. I love how it evens out between mattes and metallics. I personally love more matte shades. There’s even a great brow bone shade so I won’t have to reach for another palette. The shadows swatched beautifully. This wasn’t really a surprise to me. Even the Subculture palette swatched beautifully. What did surprise me was how well it performed.

I was a little nervous starting out. But the more into my look I got the more I fell in love with this palette. Twig was the only shade that was a little powdery, but it was nothing like Subculture. Dystopian needed a little extra help blending out. It could get a little patchy at times. The other shades were perfect. They all applied and blended beautifully. Even Noir.

You can see a look I created with the Sultry Palette below. I used the shades Twig and Slate in my crease, Cyborg on my lid with a dampened brush, Noir on my outer lid/crease, Fresh on my brow bone, and Pearl on the inner corner of my eye. For my lower lash line I used a combination of Slate and Noir.

This palette isn’t exactly my style. I’m more about color. Yet I found myself drawn to it. I’m really glad that I decided to try something different. While this isn’t something that always works in my favor, I’m happy to say that this time around it did. The Sultry Palette is a winner in my book. I’m happy to store it right next to my Modern Renaissance Palette. After the holidays of course. Because this beauty will be getting a lot of use over the next few months.

Have you tried the Sultry Palette?

  1. Ashley

I’ve been sort of tempted by this one, BUT, in reality – do I really need another basics palette? Gosh, depending on the day though, I sure do struggle with saying no! I like the pretty glitter packaging too, but sort of turned off by glitter shed!

  2. I delayed buying this palette, convinced that I didn’t need it but I eventually gave in and am so happy because I love it! xx

  4. I skipped this palette because it leans more cool toned than I like but nevertheless, it’s a beauty!
