Swatches: Palm Island, Honey Dew, Peach Blush

I’m officially back! I’m so sorry! This move took longer than I excepted. I kept trying to make it over to my computer to at least respond to comments, but then I’d get sidetracked. I’m just one of those people who needs to have everything put away and neatly organized/clean or I won’t be able to focus on work. I’ll be thinking of those boxes stacked along the wall that need unpacking. I feel so much better now that everything is very neatly put away. Of course I now have a pile of work on my desk. And I’m sure that I’ve already run out of makeup storage. So it looks like I’ll need to make another trip to Ikea.

I’ll have to post all about the new place. I still have to get a few more organizers mainly for the kitchen and pantry. I also have to figure out how to effectively mount curtain rods to these walls. They don’t take to nails or screws as easily as I’d hoped. Even the screws with built in anchors. I’m tempted to just skip the curtains in the living room because the last thing I need is another stripped hole in the wall. I should probably just stick to blogging. Either way, I’ll try and get some photos up soon.

Now that I’ve got that out of the way, here is last month’s Ipsy Glam Bag. An Instagram friend had sent me a bag and I was so impressed with it that I decided to sign back up. Seriously, this one is a winner! The actual bag is super cute. I love the little ticket stub!

First up is Hey Honey Bésame Mucho. I guess it’s a lip balm that doubles as an overnight lip mask.

I was most excited about the OFRA Cosmetics Peach Blush. I’ve heard SO much about the brand and their products that I couldn’t wait to try something. Only I didn’t know where to start. This blush was a great introduction. This nifty blush can also be used as a highlighter or eyeshadow. It can also be applied wet. It swatched beautifully! It’s so soft and buttery! And the shade is just gorgeous! I can’t wait to try it!

The Hanalei Aloe Soothing Gel sounds like it’ll come in handy. Ipsy says that aloe is naturally regenerative so it will help balance out any redness or uneven skin tone. It also claims that the gel texture makes for a killer makeup primer.

I don’t think I’ve tried much from Ciaté London. So I was also excited to see the Ciaté London Mini Bamboo Bronzer in Palm Island included in my bag. The packaging is really cute and the bronzer itself is really pretty and nicely pigmented.

The Hikari Cosmetics Cream Pigment Eyeshadow in Honey Dew is gorgeous! It’s so creamy! This gorgeous eyeshadow can also be used as a highlighter. And it sure does look like it would make for a beautiful highlighter!

Overall, I’m very impressed with this bag. I’m happy with everything I received and I seriously can’t wait to try out each and every item.

Swatches: lipstick, eyeliner, bronzer

Here is my May Ipsy Glam Bag! I have to admit, when I first saw what I’d be getting I wasn’t exactly excited. But that all changed once I tried everything out.

First up is the IT Cosmetics No-Tug Waterproof Mini Gel Eyeliner. I’ve recently been introduced to IT Cosmetics so I’m excited to try something else from the brand. And who can’t use a new black eyeliner? This gel eyeliner glided on rather nicely. Once it sets it’s not budging. It only came off with makeup remover.

The Mellow Cosmetics Creamy Matte Lipstick in Electro is really pretty! In the swatches above you can see how it looks with one swipe vs built up. It really does build up nicely. I found it to be very creamy. It also appears to have a bit of sheen to it. There’s a subtle vanilla scent. Or at least that’s what I smell. I was initially planning to pass this on, but I think I’ll try this out. The brand also has some interesting looking liquid lipsticks on their website that I was thinking of trying out. We’ll see how this goes first.

The one item that really surprised me in this month’s bag is the Hikari Cosmetics Shimmer Bronzer. It just didn’t look like something I’d be interested in. But when I swatched it and saw just how pretty it was I knew that I was wrong. The shade that I received is Radiate. The 4 shades are Radiate which is a warm rose bronze, Flush which is a light pink bronze, Splendor which is a rich coral bronze, and Luster which is a luminous true bronze. They’re so soft that it’s almost creamy. It’s a little messy from the shimmer, but it’s not so bad. The shades are nicely pigmented and glided onto my skin effortlessly. I don’t think that I’d use them as a bronzer, but the description says they can be used as eyeshadow and highlighter too. I personally think they’d make for a great Summer look.

I seriously have so many open bottles of hair oil laying around. So I’ll probably pass the Eva NYC Hungry Hair Oil Treatment on to my MIL. The Eva NYC Hungry Hair Oil Treatment contains argan oil that’s packed with vitamins A and E plus omegas 3, 6 and 9. It also contains keravis protein for strengthening and protection from heat damage. It smells pretty nice. I’m sure the MIL will appreciate this.

Last, but not least is the Vera Mona Eye Smudger Brush. I already own a smudger brush, but you can never have too many brushes. Plus this one is purple and we all know that I love me some purple.

I totally plan to work all of these items into a look. I know. I know. I always say that. Hey, sometimes I do follow through!

Swatches

I mentioned in my latest Birchbox review that I rejoined a few beauty subscriptions so that I could continue to supply my mother-in-law with lots and lots of samples. I figured why not give Ipsy another try? I never (and I do mean never) go to my mother-in-law’s house empty-handed. I hate just tossing a bunch of goodies into a plastic shopping bag. There’s nothing special about that. At least now I’ll always have a pretty new bag to toss all of her goodies into. Presentation is everything!

Now onto my first Ipsy Glam Bag of the year!

When I first saw that I was getting the Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Cheeks Blush in Peach Pink I was planning on including it in my mother-in-law’s bag. But after swatching it I think I’m going to hold onto it. No worries, I’ve got like a million other blushes I can give her instead. The plastic packaging makes it really difficult to open, but the product itself makes up for the flimsy packaging. It was soft and just glided onto my hand. And the peachy pink shade is perfect! I’ll totally work this into a look later on this week. Or next.

There’s not much for me to say about the tarte cosmetics LipSurgence™ lip crème in wonder. I’ve tried a few of these in the past, but they’re not something I reach for often. Or at all if I’m being honest. I’m sure the mother-in-law will love it. It’s a really pretty shade!

The Crown Brush C427 Duo Fiber Blush Brush is so soft! And while one can never have too many brushes, I’ll be including this in my mother-in-law’s bag because she doesn’t have any brushes!

I really try to get into sheet masks, but I’ve yet to find one that doesn’t cause me to break out. And since my skin has been doing so well lately I’m not going to mess that up. My mother-in-law doesn’t suffer with super sensitive skin and has loved all of the other sheet masks I’ve passed on to her. I’m sure she will love the pur~lisse Beauty Blue Lotus + White Tea Sheet Mask & Blue Lotus + Seaweed Sheet Mask.

Nomad Cosmetics NOMAD x Marrakesh Intense Eyeshadow in Desert Sands is a really pretty bronze eyeshadow. It’s so soft and buttery! And nicely pigmented too! I’m sure I have a few similar shades on hand, but I’ll hold onto this one for a while.

Overall I’d have to say this was a pretty cool bag. Even though I’m passing on the majority of the products, they’re products that I just know my mother-in-law will love. She even gets a cute bag with it all!
