Swatches: Nova, Gammaray

I feel like I haven’t talked about anything Kat Von D in years. Which is odd considering the fact that I use quite a few of her products daily. I guess I just haven’t been impressed by the newer releases? I’m not really sure what happened.

The Kat Von D Kitten Mini Crush on Blush highlighter and blush duo caught my eye though. It totally reminded me of why I love Kat Von D products. This is what I’ve been missing. This super cute duo contains a mini Everlasting Blush in the shade Nova and a mini Metal Crush Extreme Highlighter in the shade Gammaray.

Nova is the most beautiful dusty rose shade with a matte finish. Kat Von D does these shades really well. I can’t resist them even though I have many similar shades in my collection already. It’s soft and very pigmented. I suggest using a light hand when applying and build up as needed. It applied and blended beautifully.

Gammaray is a pretty metallic peach with gold glimmer. I get some rose gold vibes from this shade. The glitter is a little chunky, but not overly so. There was a bit of fallout, but I didn’t find it to be bothersome.

You can see the Kat Von D Kitten Mini Crush on Blush in action below.

Overall, I love this little duo! It’s perfect for every day wear and makes for a nice natural look. The highlighter might be a bit too shimmery for some, but I personally loved it. And I’m not big on shimmer or glitters. I really hope the brand does more of these types of products because I sure do miss them.

Have you tried anything new from Kat Von D recently?

Ah Lolita! I don’t think I have to tell you all just how long it took me to be able to finally get my hands on this one. Back when I purchased the Metal Crush Eyeshadow in Iggy there were a bunch of Lolita lipsticks in stock. But I was saving for the newer liquid lipsticks that were coming out so I decided to hold off. Which is silly because I wanted this lipstick since it first came out. My husband did what he usually does. Which is urge me to get the lipstick while I can. But I insisted on waiting until I could get the newer ones. I figured I could always return for Lolita since there were so many. I slept on it, decided that I did want Lolita after all, went back to Sephora only to find out that they were sold out. Again. The husband just stood there staring at me trying so hard not to utter the words ‘I told you so.’ Eventually I got my hands on it.

Lolita is described as a chestnut rose, long-wear, full-coverage liquid lipstick with a smooth, matte finish. It applied nicely and was super comfortable. It lasted quite a while too. It’s absolutely beautiful! This is definitely a nice wearable shade to have on hand. My only real issue was deciding between Lolita and Lolita II. I’m probably going back for Lolita II because it really was a tough choice. You can see Lolita in action below.

Before I dive into the beauty that is this blush duo, I wanted to give y’all a little update. Like I mentioned before, just after WordPress updated the last time my website went a little crazy. It’s my own fault really because my sorry excuse for coding is what caused the mess. But I’m learning! I’ve fixed all the issues on my test website and while I’m at it I’m working on a brand new theme! For the time being CommentLuv isn’t working and some things might still be a little out of whack. But I promise within a week things will be good as new. Or I’ll stay up all night and have it working by morning. Cause truthfully that’s a little more my style.

Now onto the good stuff! I’m not sure, but this may be my first experience with a Kat Von D blush. Aside from the Shade + Light Contour Palette I haven’t tried any of the face products. At least I don’t think I have. Anyway, I decided on Sid + Nancy. It’s described as a bright tulip and ballet pink. I found it to be a little powdery, but I had no problem getting either of them to show on my hand for swatches.

It applied and blended beautifully! I wasn’t so sure how to go about using both Sid and Nancy so I sort of followed the guide that came with my blush. I applied the lighter shade in front of the darker shade to make it look like it was going from light to dark. I’m not sure if you can see that in the photo below. But you can definitely see that nice pop of color on my cheeks!

It claims to stay vibrant for a full 24 hours, but I didn’t pull an all-nighter so I can’t really vouch for that. But it did last a good 8 or 9 hours until I washed it off. I’m really impressed. I’ve seen some not so positive reviews of some of the other shades floating around. I’ll probably pick up a few more shades and try them out myself. There aren’t many other shades that call to me though. Maybe Piaf + Poe? Or Bonnie + Clyde?

Have you tried any of the Shade + Light Blush Duos?

Anyway, I hope y’all are enjoying 2016 so far. I’m determined to make this a great year! And I’ve got so much in store for this place too!
