Swatches

My Kat Von D collection is quickly growing! I know I say that every time, but it’s true. And I just keep adding to it! Have you guys seen swatches of the new lipsticks coming out soon? I’m pretty sure I only need ALL of them! Anyway, I really don’t have many Kat Von D lip products. I do own about 3 of the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks and a set of the mini Studded Kiss Lipsticks. But this is my first actual lipstick purchase. Well, tube lipstick anyway.

I wanted to go with a more Spring friendly shade. L’Ecole des Femmes seemed like the perfect choice. It’s a matte and described as a bright coral pink. Since my lips are still super dry due to a craptastic Winter, I did prep my lips beforehand. Before applying this lipstick I applied a light layer of lip balm which is why my look appears a little watered down. But I like it that way. I could have built it up more, but I was aiming for something a little more subtle. It lasted quite a while and felt fairly comfortable. And I think the shade was pretty flattering on me. I don’t think I can pull of many corals, but that doesn’t stop me from trying. This one works for me though.

Also, I’m really digging the studded tube! I actually have it sitting on top of my tool box (along with the minis). It does feel a little bulky compared to some of my other tubes, but I don’t mind it at all. It stands out among the rest and just looks all sorts of badass!

Swatches (Left to Right): Selena, Dayglo, Galore, Placebo

Swatches (Left to Right): Santeria, Archangel, South, Dog Roses

Can I just say that I love everything about this palette? Because I do! The packaging is so vibrant and absolutely beautiful! Then again it is a Kat Von D palette! The eyeshadows are equally beautiful and scream SPRING! Even the names are great. Dayglo? Santeria? Love it!

Selena is a glittery purple. Dayglo is an iridescent white and listed as a transformer shade. Galore is a pearl peach. Placebo is a matte peony pink. Santeria is a glittery greenish grey. Archangel is a sparkly seafoam green. South is a matte beige. And last, but certainly not least, Dog Roses is a sparkly bronze. I did experience a little fallout from the glittery shadows, but I didn’t mind much. They all applied nicely and lasted all day with little to no fading or creasing.

You can see a look I created with this beautiful palette below. I’m wearing Santeria on my lid with Dayglo layered on top. I’m also wearing Santeria on my lower lash line. Selena in my crease, Archangel on the inner corner of my eye, and South as my highlighter.

Swatches: Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Trio in Fever Ray

Last weekend my father and I did a little shopping at the mall. I like randomly stopping at Sephora to check out their clearance/sale section. It seems every time I do I score some great items at a great price. This time I found all 4 of the Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Trios for HALF OFF! I bought 3 of them for $11.99 each! I decided I didn’t need Dreamer because I already own so many similar shades. Up first is Fever Ray.

I really love how this one swatched on my hand. I’m mostly satisfied with how it applied on my lids with the exception of that 3rd eyeshadow. I was really hoping to get that really nice rich burgundy color, but that’s just not what I ended up with. However, I’m still very pleased with this palette and the look I was able to create. You can see that look below.

I applied the 1st eyeshadow on the center of my lid, inner corner of my eye, and as a highlighter. I applied the 2nd eyeshadow in my crease. I applied the 3rd eyeshadow on the inner and outer part of my lid and on my lower lash line. The 1st eyeshadow was a little powdery, but not overly so. The other 2 were soft. They all blended nicely and lasted all day with very little to no creasing or fading. It really is a pretty trio. I’m going to try using a different base to see if I can get that burgundy to pop more. It probably just needs a little nudge.
