Alpha Girl Beauty Powder

Swatches (Left to Right): Alpha Girl, Make Me Gorgeous, Real Doll, Reel Sexy

This post took a little longer to put together than I wanted. If you follow me on Instagram you know that my first Alpha Girl Beauty Powder arrived damaged. MAC shipped a replacement out rather quickly, but then I got caught up with other goodies and this post just got pushed back. Better late than never, eh?

I really wanted the lipsticks more than anything. And I think I picked some good ones! I was originally just going to get Reel Sexy, but decided to pick up Make Me Gorgeous and Real Doll as well. After seeing swatches I convinced myself that I needed them in my life.

Let’s start with the Alpha Girl Beauty Powder. It’s described as a soft peachy pink with gold nuance. I applied it to my cheeks as a blush because I thought it would add a nice little glow. I really like it paired with the Reel Sexy Lipstick.

As for the lipsticks, Make Me Gorgeous is an amplified and described as an intense coral pink, Real Doll is a lustre and described as a light pinky lilac, and Reel Sexy is an amplified and described as a bright coral. At this point I don’t think I can pick a favorite. I love them all! And for a lustre I’m really surprised at how Real Doll applied. It really does look like the perfect lilac! You can see them in action below.

I think my camera captured Reel Sexy at its best. But I assure you Make Me Gorgeous and Real Doll look SO much better in person!

Swatches: Forbidden Sunrise, Lavender Jade

When I saw the Bao Bao Wan Collection pop up on the MAC website weeks before its official launch, I figured it would go live earlier than expected. So I did what any hardcore makeup lover would do. I stalked. Every day. For WEEKS! It didn’t launch early. And had I not been told by the woman dressed in all white standing in an all white room showing me how to make Chanel blush to wake up at that very moment, I would have missed out. Everyone has these kinds of dreams, right? RIGHT?

Crazy blush making dream aside, all I wanted were these 2 lipsticks. I find that it gets harder and harder to stand my ground and not buy entire collections just because it’s shiny, new, and pretty as hell! But I really didn’t need the eyeshadow palette or that gorgeous beauty powder. These lipsticks were must haves though.

Forbidden Sunrise is a matte and described as creamy orange. Lavender Jade is also a matte and described as dirty mauve with gold pearl. Lavender Jade is my favorite of the 2, but Forbidden Sunrise is a rather unique shade in my ever growing collection. I found both of these lipsticks to be very creamy and extremely comfortable. I only had to touch up once throughout the day which was nice. You can see both of these beauties in action below.

Swatch: MAC Cinderella Royal Ball Lipstick

The MAC Cinderella collection is a collection I REALLY wanted to love. But nothing really jumped out at me. The shades are soft and neutral. Basically what you’d expect from a Cinderella collection. The packaging is super cute, but I’ve kind of grown out of buying things JUST for the packaging. Still, I felt like I should at least try something from this collection. As I looked through my tool box I realized that I didn’t own that many nude lipsticks so I added Royal Ball to my wishlist. And that’s really all I ended up getting. Of course during the checkout process I tried convincing myself that I needed the Stroke of Midnight palette. But I stood my ground and didn’t buy into the hype. That doesn’t mean it’s not a pretty palette. It just means that I only have like 50 similar palettes/shades laying around.

Anyway, Royal Ball is a lustre and described as fleshy pink. It looks really frosty on my lips and while I don’t typically go for that sort of look, I actually like this. It did take a little getting used to, but after a little while I really started to love it. I think it has a nice elegant look to it. Totally Cinderella-like. I got about 2 hours of wear time before it started to fade. I found it to be pretty comfortable too. I’m glad I decided to get it after all. It’s a nice addition to my collection.
