Play! by Sephora: November 2017

I didn’t get to post last month’s Play! by Sephora box due to personal issues which is why I skipped over October. I don’t think it was all that great anyway. At least I don’t think it was. To be honest I don’t remember what I got. This month is a good one though. Let’s see what I got!

First up is the Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara. It claims to be an ultra volumizing mascara that delivers instant dimension for epic lashes. I haven’t tried much from Marc Jacobs Beauty so it was nice to experiment a little more with the brand. However, I wasn’t crazy about the brush. It’s very chunky and oddly shaped. Because of that I couldn’t really coat all of my lashes evenly. I’m not really a fan of this one.

I love Origins! I love them so much that I don’t even mind getting a repeat item. Like the Origins Clear Improvement® Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores. It’s an ultra purifying charcoal mask that deep cleans and visibly reduces pores. The sample size is pretty generous too!

The Moroccanoil Moroccanoil Treatment is an argan oil hair treatment that conditions, protects, and adds shine to your strands. I ended up giving this to my mother-in-law and she loves it!

I think the SEPHORA COLLECTION Ultra Shine Lip Gel in 04 Perfect Nude was the least exciting item in this month’s box. While I have been rocking lip gloss these days, this one just doesn’t scream new and exciting to me.

I was very excited to see the Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S Thirst Quenching Serum included in this month’s box. I’ve received a few other Caudalie products in past boxes and loved them all. I’m hoping this oil free serum will be another winner. It sure does sound promising! It’s infused with grape water to boost hydration and soothe even the most sensitive skin.

And this month’s fragrance is BURBERRY My Burberry Blush. I’m not usually big on floral scents, but this was pretty nice. I think it’s balanced out nicely with some of the fruity notes. It’s a little on the sweet side, but overall very pretty.

Swatches

I was hoping for an extra special box this month since September is my birth month. While I wouldn’t exactly call this month’s box extra special, it’s still pretty good.

The only item I didn’t really care for is the Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel. I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten this in a past box and I didn’t like it. It does nothing for my sparse brows. And for some reason I always get a super light shade.

I was very excited to see the Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour in Happy. It’s a gorgeous warm fuschia shade with a satin finish. The packaging is really nice. I love when sample sizes come in nice packaging.

I totally would have used the stila Stay All Day® Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Black. It’s waterproof and claims to stay put all day and night. It swatched really nice and seemed to be a nice jet black shade. However, my sister-in-law was in need of a liquid liner so I handed it on down to her.

The belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb is a moisturizer that provides skin with intense hydration. I can see this coming in handy during the colder months. *whispers* Winter is coming.

The DevaCurl Melt into Moisture Matcha Butter Conditioning Mask is a nourishing treatment mask that transforms dehydrated curls with matcha butter for intense moisture, softness, and shine. I can appreciate a great hair mask so I’ll definitely be giving this a try.

The fragrance sample I received this month is Stella McCartney POP. I’m really digging this fragrance. It’s on the bolder side, but it’s fresh and upbeat. Smelling it makes me happy. I might just add this one to my wishlist.

Swatch

It looks like another great Play! by Sephora box this month!

First up is the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. I’ve actually heard about this quite a bit recently. I’ve been curious about it so I’m pretty excited to give it a try. It’s a fast absorbing body cream that is said to help tighten and smooth the look of skin. It smells nice (very tropical like) and the packaging is pretty cool.

I was surprised to see the beautyblender beautyblender® micro.mini included in this month’s box. I’ve only ever purchased the regular sized BeautyBlender. So I’m pretty excited to give the mini version a try. I can see it coming in handy for concealer and highlighter.

Another product I was excited to see is the Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer Crème in L11. The sample size is pretty generous and the shade appears to be a decent match. Right away I noticed how thick it was. I’m not sure how I’ll get along with that, but I can’t really say until I test it out on my face. So I’ll definitely report back on this one.

I don’t really do dry shampoo and most Living Proof Products just don’t work well for me, but I suppose I could at least give the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo a try. It can’t hurt, right?

The Too Faced Mascara Melt Off Cleansing Oil seems like it could come in handy. It’s a cleansing oil that dissolves regular and waterproof mascara. It claims to be effective and gentle. I do have a few mascaras that never seem to budge so I’ll have to put this sample to the test for sure.

Last, but certainly not least is the Kat Von D Saint Eau de Parfum and the Kat Von D Sinner Eau de Parfum. I actually received deluxe samples of these from Influenster that I have yet to review. I’ll quickly note that I love them both! Keep an eye out for that review!

Overall, I’m very impressed with this month’s box. I received some new-to-me items that are both useful and even exciting. I can’t wait to dig in!
