Swatch

I was so excited about this month’s Play! by Sephora box. That is until it arrived and I ripped it open. The bag is cute as heck! The black and rose gold is so pretty! I was way too excited to dig in. Unfortunately, that’s where the excitement came to a screeching halt.

Believe it or not, I’ve never tried the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. I keep meaning to pick one up, but never do. I mostly stick to my MAC Fix+ and not much of anything else. Ok nothing else. But I have always wanted to try the Urban Decay Setting Spray so I was very excited to see this included in the box.

I usually don’t mind getting mascara in my boxes, but I feel like that’s all I’ve been getting lately. I haven’t tried the Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara yet so at least this is another new to me item. But it’s not one I really need at the moment. I’ll still give it a try though.

I think I’d be more excited about the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Smoothing Primer if the sample were maybe big enough for at least 2 uses.

I don’t really care much for dry shampoo, but I guess they do come in rather handy when you’re traveling. Which I’m hoping to do a bit of next year. So I guess I’ll tuck the Drybar Detox Dry Shampoo away until then.

Another product I would have been more excited about had the sample been big enough to at least coat both my upper and lower lip is the Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain. Seriously, what am I going to do with that teeny tiny sample? I probably used half of it in my swatch. I received the shade Always Red which is a matte bold classic red. It is a very pretty red though. Too bad about the tiny size.

The fragrance included in this month’s box is the Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon. It’s a blend of vanilla bourbon and spice wood with a delicate floral note. I actually really like this fragrance. It’s very light and warm. I can see myself purchasing the full size.

So there you have it. I guess it’s not a total dud because I can at least get some use out of all of the items. Even if I’m not that excited about all of them.

Swatches: Rose Gold, Pin Up Pink

This month my box arrived before I got the chance to do my usual sneak peek (again). And you know what? I’m really liking it. I was so surprised and happy to see what was inside. I think I’ll skip the sneak peeks from now on.

Let’s start with the COVER FX Illuminating Primer. I haven’t tried too much from the brand. I don’t know what more to say other than it’s a silicone-free primer and I can totally get some use out of it. I’ll have to test it out soon.

I think I’m most excited about the Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet. It’s a gel cream that’s suitable for all skin types. Even the most sensitive. It claims to intensely moisturize and calm dehydrated and irritated skin. It also claims to be rich in Vinolevure to strengthen skin so that it becomes less sensitive and more resilient over time. It also contains chamomile to calm redness and irritation. I’ve got some pretty sensitive skin so I’m looking forward to seeing how these claims hold up. I’ve used it a few times already and so far I’m liking it. It does have a nice gel-like texture which I like because I feel like I don’t have to use as much product. A little goes a long way. I feel like it moisturizes much better than some of my other moisturizers. I don’t notice much of a scent which is a huge plus. On the days that I have worn it I do notice that my skin is more evened out and not nearly as red. However, it doesn’t completely eliminate the redness. I’m curious to see how it will work out when used over time. It even played nice with my super sensitive skin! I’m definitely purchasing the full size!

I’ve heard lots about Glamglow, but haven’t tried anything from the brand yet. I can’t wait to try the GLAMGLOW THIRSTYMUD™ Hydrating Treatment. It’s a non-drying hydration mask that delivers instant extreme moisture. Here’s to hoping it gets along with my sensitive skin. I love the blue packaging!

I received the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in the shade Rose Gold. It’s described as a rosy gold shimmer. It’s so pretty! This eyeshadow stick can also line and highlight. I bet this beautiful rose gold shade would make for a gorgeous highlight! I’ll totally be working this into a look soon!

I received the SEPHORA COLLECTION Ultra Shine Lip Gel in the shade Pin Up Pink. Which is a pretty pink with a high shine finish. I’m not much into lip gloss, but I’ll still give it a try.

I’m so excited that this month’s fragrance is a nice one. The MAISON MARGIELA ’REPLICA’ Lipstick On smells so nice! It’s very soft and powdery. I also like the look of the full sized bottle. I totally added this to my wishlist!

There you have it! I’m really loving this month’s box. I think this is my favorite one yet!

Swatch

This is the first time I received my box without knowing what was going to be inside. I usually sneak a peek, but for some reason that option never became available to me. Let’s take a look at what’s inside…

First up is the Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture Scent & Shine Coconut Oil. This little bottle comes complete with a dropper. It’s a lightweight hair oil that softens hair, adds shine, and tames frizz. It smells nice sweet vanilla. I love anything coconut so I’m pretty excited to give this a try.

The Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum is the cutest little bottle. The name is kinda cool too. It’s a 12 percent glycolic night time serum that refines and resurfaces skin by gently dissolving dead skin cells while supporting natural collagen. It sounds pretty great, but I have a feeling that it won’t get along with my sensitive skin. So I’ll be passing this on for sure.

The Farmacy Skin Dew Hydrating Essence Mist & Setting Spray is a hydrating essence mist that tones skin, restores radiance, and freshens makeup. I’ve seen this around and have been curious about it. I’m glad that I finally get to test it out.

I don’t really wear gloss, but I guess it couldn’t hurt to test out The Estée Edit Flash Photo Gloss.

If you’re going to include such a tiny lip sample, you should probably fill it up all the way. Other than that the Smashbox Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick looks pretty nice. I received the shade Driver’s Seat which is described as a warm pink. The applicator is very easy to work with, but it’s kind of difficult to remove from the tube. You really have to pull hard. It’s nice and creamy and dries down pretty quickly. I’ll have to work this into a look soon.

The fragrance sample I received this month is DEREK LAM 10 CROSBY Silent St.. It’s very light and pure. It’s definitely my kind of scent. Even the description sounds nice. ‘Crosby Street at First Snow. A moment of total peace and purity in the middle of the chaos of New York City. The essence of pure white musks.’

Overall it’s a pretty decent box. And I’m sure I’ll get use out of most of the items.
