Swatches: SEPHORA COLLECTION Rouge Shine Lipstick, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

This month’s Play! by Sephora is pretty good. I wouldn’t say it’s an exciting one, but I did receive items I’ll definitely get use out of. Let’s dig in!

I’ve really been getting into hair care lately. Especially since I color it so often. So I’ve been getting more excited over new to me hair care products. The Living Proof Perfect Hair Day® Night Cap Overnight Perfector sounds pretty good. You apply it to your hair (wet or dry) before bed and either wash it out or style it in the morning. It’s said to last through 5 shampoos while providing shiny, vibrant, more manageable hair. I’ll definitely report back on this.

I’ve heard so much about Ole Henriksen, but haven’t tried anything from the brand yet. I’m pretty excited to try the Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation®. It’s an oil-free moisturizer with multi-fruit AHA complex which is said to help even skintone and smooth the skin’s texture. The sample size is rather small, but I’m sure I’ll be able to get at least a few uses out of it. It doesn’t really have a scent which is already good news to me!

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel is also new to me. It’s a clear brow gel that sets and holds brows in place. It’s not the most exciting item, but I’ll totally get use out of it.

I also received the SEPHORA COLLECTION Rouge Shine Lipstick in the shade Love Spell. It’s a really pretty pink shade, but if I’m being honest it’s not a shade I would have chosen for myself. The sample size is super small and I didn’t detect a scent. I’ll work it into a look later on this week.

I was pretty excited to see the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in the box. It’s my go-to eyeliner and having a sample size will totally come in handy. I’m not sure what more to say about it. It’s very easy to work with and always applies evenly. The fine tip allows for precise lining. I love it!

Last we have the fragrance sample. This month it’s Atelier Cologne Collection Azur – Sud Magnolia. It’s a pretty strong scent. I mostly detect rose. I actually like the smell of rose, but this is just way too strong of a floral scent for my liking. It’s really pretty though so I’ll definitely hold onto it. I’ll just be sure to apply the tiniest amount.

Overall it’s a pretty great box and I’m satisfied with the products I received. I would like a little more excitement though.

I wanted to make note of something. I’m going to be making a few changes around here. Usually when I haul stuff I break reviews up so that I focus on one item at a time. I know not many people do that, but that’s how I like doing things. I like to take my time and focus on one item at a time while keeping posts short and to the point. Even if it does seem long and drawn out. But I have to put an end to that because at this rate the new stuff I just purchased won’t be posted until next year! I’ve got a few individual reviews set to post over the next few weeks, but after that I will start bunching them. I just wanted to mention it before you started seeing longer more photo-heavy posts.

Swatches: Urban Decay Perversion Mascara, SEPHORA COLLECTION Contour Eye Pencil 12hr Wear Waterproof, MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Shadow Eyeshadow and Powder Blush

My Play! box arrived pretty late this month. But at least this box is better than the last one!

I really love me some Lancôme so I get pretty excited when I get samples from them. I used the Lancôme Énergie de Vie The Smoothing & Glow Boosting Liquid Moisturizer right away. It’s an energizing antioxidant liquid moisturizer that refreshes, protects, and hydrates tired skin for an instant dewy glow. I don’t feel like it gave me much of a glow, but it did leave my skin feeling silky smooth! There is fragrance in it, but it’s not strong or bothersome at all. I’m not sure how I feel about it just yet. I’d have to use it some more. But the sample I received is very small and since it’s very liquidy I feel like I have to use more of it. I might get 2 more uses out of it.

I’m not sure if it’s because of my upcoming birthday or what. But I’m convinced my eyes have aged drastically over night. I swear I went to bed one night looking halfway decent and woke up looking wrinkled. Or maybe I just need more rest? Either way I’m in desperate need of more eye cream. And the Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm sounds like a nice addition to my collection of eye creams that obviously don’t work. I kid. I kid. But I really can’t wait to try this one out!

Next up is the MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Shadow Eyeshadow and Powder Blush in I544 which is described as an iridescent pink granite. I swatched it both wet and dry. It had a really nice buttery soft texture and is nicely pigmented. It’s a gorgeous shade and I’ll definitely get use out of it.

I usually don’t care much for eyeliners being added to my boxes, but the SEPHORA COLLECTION Contour Eye Pencil 12hr Wear Waterproof is a really nice pencil. I received the shade 33 Love Affair which is a plum shade. It’s really pretty and will make for a nice Fall look.

The Urban Decay Perversion Mascara looks like it’ll get some use. I’ll use it this week along with the other products in this box. I’ve been getting a lot of use out of the Smashbox mascara that I received in my July Birchbox. It’ll be nice to change things up a bit and try something new.

I was really excited to try out the CLEAN Reserve Warm Cotton because it seemed like it would be a nice light, fresh, clean scent. I guess by clean they mean cleaning product? Because that’s exactly what it smells like!

Aside from the perfume, everything in this box will get some use. Overall I’d have to say that it’s a pretty great box!

This month’s Play! by Sephora is pretty good! I’m not too excited about it, but there are a few items that I’m looking forward to trying out. Let’s dig in!

I’ve been wanting to try one of the Too Faced bronzers for a while. So I’m looking forward to trying the Too Faced Soleil Matte Bronzer. It smells like delicious chocolate! I really don’t care for the plastic packaging as it’s pretty difficult to open, but the sample size is rather generous. I received the shade Chocolate which is a medium/deep matte bronzer. It feels a little stiff, but when I dug in and swatched it on my hand it applied and blended rather nicely. It’s very pretty! I’ll have to work this into a look soon!

I don’t really wear my hair wavy so I’m not sure I have much use for the Ouai Wave Spray. It does sound like a wonderful product though and the sample size is really generous. It also smells pretty nice!

Back when I was having some skin issues I tried a face cream from First Aid Beauty. The product did nothing for me or my husband for that matter. He really likes dipping into my stuff! But it did have great reviews so I held onto it and planned to give it another shot in the future. Maybe I’ll pair it with the First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser With Red Clay and see if I have a better experience this time around.

I’ve heard so much about the Smashbox Photo Finish Oil Free Foundation Primer Pore Minimizing and have been dying to try it. Two Smashbox products in one month! I’m hoping this works out just as nicely as the mascara from this month’s Birchbox!

The beautyblender blotterazzi™ by beautyblender® actually has some shockingly bad reviews, but it does seem like an interesting product. Especially for those with oily skin. Or those suffering through a heatwave. I’ll give it a try! Also, it’s kind of fun to say blotterazzi!

The NEST Citrine smells really nice! But it’s very strong and almost headache inducing. Actually, it was headache inducing. I had to wash it off after about 10 minutes. My poor sinuses just couldn’t take it anymore!

Like I said, it’s a pretty good box this month. But I’ll probably only get use out of the bronzer and primer. And maybe the cleanser.
