Before I dive into the beauty that is this blush duo, I wanted to give y’all a little update. Like I mentioned before, just after WordPress updated the last time my website went a little crazy. It’s my own fault really because my sorry excuse for coding is what caused the mess. But I’m learning! I’ve fixed all the issues on my test website and while I’m at it I’m working on a brand new theme! For the time being CommentLuv isn’t working and some things might still be a little out of whack. But I promise within a week things will be good as new. Or I’ll stay up all night and have it working by morning. Cause truthfully that’s a little more my style.
Now onto the good stuff! I’m not sure, but this may be my first experience with a Kat Von D blush. Aside from the Shade + Light Contour Palette I haven’t tried any of the face products. At least I don’t think I have. Anyway, I decided on Sid + Nancy. It’s described as a bright tulip and ballet pink. I found it to be a little powdery, but I had no problem getting either of them to show on my hand for swatches.
It applied and blended beautifully! I wasn’t so sure how to go about using both Sid and Nancy so I sort of followed the guide that came with my blush. I applied the lighter shade in front of the darker shade to make it look like it was going from light to dark. I’m not sure if you can see that in the photo below. But you can definitely see that nice pop of color on my cheeks!
It claims to stay vibrant for a full 24 hours, but I didn’t pull an all-nighter so I can’t really vouch for that. But it did last a good 8 or 9 hours until I washed it off. I’m really impressed. I’ve seen some not so positive reviews of some of the other shades floating around. I’ll probably pick up a few more shades and try them out myself. There aren’t many other shades that call to me though. Maybe Piaf + Poe? Or Bonnie + Clyde?
Have you tried any of the Shade + Light Blush Duos?
Anyway, I hope y’all are enjoying 2016 so far. I’m determined to make this a great year! And I’ve got so much in store for this place too!
Awww, I thought of getting this but I have so many blushers so I skipped it. I settled for Hourglass Ambient Light Powder in Dim Light instead because I have nothing like it in my collection…let’s hope I don’t regret it. :-(

Oh I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the Hourglass!
I’ve read some mixed reviews on these blushes as well, so I’m glad these colors worked out for you, despite being a bit powdery. You look lovely. :)

Thank you, Chris! Yeah there definitely are some mixed reviews. Thankfully I picked something that ended up working for me. :)
Oh, I have always wondered how you would apply both shades, thanks for the information. Even though it isn’t as noticeable at the picture as it possibly is in real life I can imagine it being a very pretty transition.

Thank you, Anne! I usually toss those inserts aside, but this time around I actually needed it. There were a few ideas listed. One was to swirl both shade and light together, but I wanted to use them separately. It does look much nicer in person.
I’ve been wondering about these! The colours are very pretty – I can’t see the transition in the photo but it might be difficult to capture in a photo xx

It was definitely difficult to capture. Beauty blogger problems, eh? lol :)
I love the look of this little duo! The blush looks so nice and delicate on you, definitely seems like something I’d like!

Wow, this really looks pretty! I didn’t see a good review on Temptalia .. but this blush isn’t a real pigmented blush anyway. It’s suppose to be Kat VD’s interpretation of a contour type blush (as I understand it).
Looks quite pretty though !

Yes you’re absolutely right! I guess we’re all going to have our own take on it though. I happened to love it and will definitely try some of the other shades out. But this one is a keeper for sure!
Thank you, Monica!
omg I love it and need it in my life. and you look fab!!!!! love that shade on you!
Thank you, Steph! <3
I read some really terrible reviews of this new blush, but it looks really good both in your swatches and on your cheeks! I’ve had similar blush duo in the past and I really like the concept, you can make it darker or lighter depending on what you want that day, or you can use the two shades to sculpt a little bit without harsh contouring. It looks lovely!
