A former blogger friend recently got her Etsy shop up and running. I remember her talking about her soaps shortly before she shut her blog down. I was pretty excited to see what she created, but when I hadn’t heard from her I assumed she got too busy. Well, she was busy. Busy creating! When she reached out to me to see if I’d review some of her soaps I excitedly said yes.
The name of her shop is Duchess of Soapshire. I love it! What sets her shop apart from the rest is that her soaps are named after notable people of history. She takes it a step further by including ingredients from the regions of these notable people. Even the molds used fit nicely into her theme tying it up into a perfect little package. Lots of thought went into this and it shows. The owner also donates 15% of profits to charity every month. So with every purchase not only are you treating yourself to a little luxury, but you’re giving back in the process. Well done, Chris!
You can see the two soaps I chose below.
Amelio Aloe Vera Soap
Amelio Aloe Vera Soap was named after Amelio Robles Avila. You can follow this link to the listing to read more about Amelio. This soap contains aloe vera which is an ingredient commonly used around the world including Mexico. It it shaped to resemble the dahlia flower which is the national flower of Mexico.
Rokeya Jasmine Soap
Rokeya Jasmine Soap was named after Begum Rokeya. You can follow this link to the listing to read more about Rokeya. This soap contains jasmine. It is shaped to resemble the lotus flower which is the national flower of India.
The soaps come in the cutest wax lined bags. I had actually placed the Rokeya Jasmine Soap in my shower to use later on, but my husband had taken his shower first. When he got out he was telling me to feel how soft his arms were. I asked him what he used and when he told me ‘that fancy new soap’ I just squinted my eyes and told him that was MY soap! Hah! He really seems to enjoy it and hasn’t used anything else since. The bar itself is gorgeous and smells like jasmine. It doesn’t leave behind much of a scent on your skin, but it did leave my skin feeling super soft. It didn’t leave behind a residue or icky dry feeling. In fact it was very moisturizing. My husband and I were both pleasantly surprised. The Amelio Aloe Vera Soap doesn’t really have much of a scent, but was equally beautiful and moisturizing. Although I think my husband and I both favored the Rokeya Jasmine Soap. It truly is a beautiful soap.
Overall, I must say that I’m impressed with Duchess of Soapshire. I love the concept and I love the product. Chris tells me that she’s working on lots of new things. I’m not sure I can share any of that with you all, but know that I will be all over it once it hits her shop. So be on the lookout for more Duchess of Soapshire goodies in the future!
