Every year I get asked why I don’t share a worst of the year list to go along with my favorites. I didn’t think anyone really wanted to hear about the duds. I try to keep things positive around here. If something doesn’t work out for me I trash it or give it away. I try not to dwell over it. I wish I could apply this same positive outlook on the rest of my life. I’ll get there!
I don’t have many products to share, but I do have a few. Let’s get started…
Lange Aplatir
I had my old Sedu flat iron for well over a decade! I can hardly believe it lasted that long. But it did and it worked perfectly fine up until about a few months ago. Which is when I started my search for another flat iron. A few people recommended the Lange Aplatir. There were so many positive reviews that when I saw it on sale I ordered it without giving it a second thought. This was the worst flat iron I have ever used in all my life. This flat iron did absolutely nothing for me. The packaging was cute as was the blush color. That’s about the only positives I have for this flat iron. I ended up giving it to a friend. Her hair isn’t as thick and is much shorter. I feel like it might work better for those hair types.
ColourPop No Filter Natural Matte Foundation
I was so not a fan of the ColourPop No Filter Natural Matte Foundation. It wasn’t the easiest to blend out, it didn’t last long and it turned into a huge cakey mess after just one hour! I still keep reaching for it expecting a different outcome and it continues to let me down.
ColourPop Pressed Powder Blush in Soul Mate
This is a difficult one to list. It’s seriously the cutest blush ever. From the packaging down to the shade. For some reason mine didn’t perform as beautifully as everyone else’s. I was really let down. It’s such a beautiful blush if you can get it to stick and last. However, it’s impossible. It just clumps up and falls off my skin every time. It just won’t blend!
e.l.f. Poreless Putty Primer
I remember going crazy looking for this primer and when I finally got my hands on it I felt cheated. I’m not sure I’d say it was a dud. It was ok. It just didn’t live up to the hype for me. Many claimed it was a dupe for the Tatcha The Silk Canvas Protective Primer. There were definitely some similarities, but I personally wouldn’t label it a dupe.
ColourPop BFF Liquid Liner in Numero Uno
I hate to list a third ColourPop item, but aside from this the only other disaster from 2019 was that dreadful salon that ruined my hair. I’m over talking about them so I opted for the eyeliner. I really like their gel liners so I had high hopes for the liquid liner. Unfortunately, this bled like crazy and looked even worse on my lids. I ended up giving it to my sister-in-law. She loves it and didn’t have any issues. I now purchase it regularly for her. Too bad it didn’t work out for me.
This wraps up the worst of 2019. I didn’t purchase a lot of makeup and when I did it was from ColourPop. Which is why they are mentioned so much. Have you tried any of these products? What are your thoughts on them?
Eek, good to know. I’ll show these to my daughter, who is the one who wears the most make up in the house.

Many seem to like it, but I wasn’t sold.
I always find it so interesting that something that doesn’t work at all on me can work so wonderfully on someone else.

Yes me too! But that’s the thing about makeup. Everyone is going to have a different experience.
I haven’t tried any of these, and now I know not to! I keep hearing good things about Colourpop though, so these might just be an exception.
ColourPop definitely have some amazing products! However, these didn’t work out for me at all.
I am so disappointed there were so many from the Colourpop brand. I love that brand but obviously there are some duds in the mix.

I love their products too, but there are bound to be misses with any brand.
I haven’t tried any of these. I’ve used a couple of E.L.F products though and I don’t find it great for the black skin. It usually leaves an ashy undertone.

This is so good to know. I love Colourpop, but after seeing this, it’s a big no no. I love their lipsticks though.

I love their lipsticks and eyeshadows. They do have so many great products, but these were total let-downs for me. Can’t win em all.
thanks for the heads up! It’s good to hear what products to watch out for, there’s so many reviews that are good that it becomes difficult to determine whether it’s accurate or the reviewer is being paid to say a good review when in fact it’s not!
Yes there is a lot of that out there. I purchase most products mentioned here with my own money. I keep it very honest around here. :)

Oh no, sad about all the ColourPop on this list. I like some of their stuff but I’ll steer clear of these.

That liquid liner looks really bad. About an elf primer I’m glad I removedit from my basket today!
Yeah it definitely was not for me. The primer is a favorite of so many. I just didn’t think it was worth the hype.

Same here! It was challenging even coming up with 5 products. I’m sure there was many more I could have added, but I get frustrated and just toss them out or pass them on to someone else.
