November 2016 Birchbox

November 2016 Birchbox

My November Birchbox isn’t really that exciting. But there are two items I’ll totally use so it’s not a total dud. Let’s dig in!

I’ve wanted to try Kérastase for a while now. I’ve heard lots of good things. Not only did I receive the Kérastase Nutritive Bain Satin 2 – Shampoo for Dry Hair and Kérastase Nutritive Lait Vital – Conditioner for Dry Hair, but they’re both nice sized samples! I’ll definitely get a few uses out of them. I also appreciate that I was sent products for dry hair since that fits my hair type perfectly.

The Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour® Cream Skin Protectant is a multi-purpose salve that hydrates skin, adds shine to lips and lids, tames brows, conditions cuticles, and soothes scrapes and sunburns. I did test a bit on my cuticles because they definitely need all the help they can get. But it smelled like Bengay and well… I hate the smell of Bengay. It did have a balm like texture and felt moisturizing. But I just can’t get over the scent.

The jane iredale Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain is interesting. It’s specially formulated to adjust to your body’s unique chemistry to create a customized ultra-flattering hue. It contains lots of natural ingredients. When I swatched it on my hand it was a shimmery baby pink shade. But it was way too sheer to show up in a swatch. As interesting as it sounds, it’s just not something I’d actually use. Also, the sample is teeny tiny!

The Raw Spirit Fragrances Wild Fire Eau de Parfum is definitely not my kind of fragrance. It’s a little too woodsy for my liking. It’s also very strong.

There you have it! At least I get to try the shampoo and conditioner! I might be cancelling Birchbox and will probably just stick with my Play! by Sephora subscription. I just haven’t been too impressed with my boxes lately.

ColourPop Hello Kitty Collection

Swatches: Surprise, Tiny Chum, Konichiwa, Coin Purse, School Is Fun

Now you just know I had to get in on the ColourPop Hello Kitty Collection! My order surprisingly shipped within 3 days and was in my hands within the week! I say surprisingly because I’ve had to wait well over 2 weeks for less popular collection releases. I’m not complaining though!

I think ColourPop did a wonderful job on this collection. The packaging is cute as heck! It’s simple, but nicely done. I wasn’t really sold on the eyeshadow shades, but everything else is as colorful and sparkly as I’d expect it to be. I only picked up a few items. I totally would have purchased the kit if the eyeshadows were more exciting to me. I was a little bummed that the highlighter and blush included in the kit wasn’t sold separately. It seems I wasn’t alone in that. Anyway, here’s what I picked up.

ColourPop Hello Kitty Ultra Metallic Lip in Surprise $6.00
Surprise is described as a metallic finish dynamic cool toned ruby red topped with copper and hot pink glitter. This is the lipstick I was most excited to try. It looks all kinds of sparkly and pretty. I think it’s the perfect holiday lip shade.

It’s very creamy. It’s a little on the thick side, but it still applies nicely and evenly. It’s a little gritty because of all the glitter, but it doesn’t affect application. It made for a nice comfortable wear, but it did feel a little drying toward the end of the day. It wasn’t transfer-proof, but it did hold up well to food and drink with only a little fading on the inner part of my mouth. It also leaves behind a bit of a stain. Aside from the drying and fading, it’s a really beautiful lipstick. This is easily my favorite of them all!

ColourPop Hello Kitty Ultra Satin Lip in Tiny Chum $6.00
Tiny Chum is described as a satin finish baby nude pink. The texture on this one is a little thinner. It applied just as nicely as Surprise. It does settle a bit into lines so you’ll want to be sure to prep your lips well before applying this one. It felt a little tacky, but it wasn’t bothersome. It lasted around 7 hours and did require a bit of a touch-up after food and drink.

ColourPop Hello Kitty Lippie Stix in Konichiwa $5.00
Konichiwa is described as a creme finish mid-tone cool blue pink. This lipstick is so creamy and glides onto your lips with ease. It made for one of the most comfortable wears I’ve experienced from ColourPop. It didn’t last nearly as long as the liquid lipsticks, but touching up was easy. I don’t have many Lippie Stix and I’m just now wondering why. I will have to change that! Soon!

ColourPop Hello Kitty Blush in Coin Purse

ColourPop Hello Kitty Blush in Coin Purse $8.00
Coin Purse is described as a matte finish bright cool toned rosy pink. It’s creamy and applies and blends beautifully. I usually use my fingers to apply their blushes. I just dab and blend in. It’s not as intimidating as it appears in the pan. But I’d still use a light hand.

ColourPop Hello Kitty Collection

ColourPop Hello Kitty Highlighter in School Is Fun

ColourPop Hello Kitty Highlighter in School Is Fun $8.00
School Is Fun is described as a pearlized finish soft iridescent duo chrome gold. It’s creamy and soft like the other highlighters I’ve tried. I use a combination of my fingers and a brush to apply their highlighters. The gold pairs beautifully with the pink. I’ll have to photograph my look the next time I wear them together. This post is already a little too heavy on the photos.

I also ordered another Lippie Stix in the shade Date Mate, but I decided to include it in my upcoming giveaway. So be on the lookout for that!

The Body Shop Facial Masks

The Body Shop Facial Masks

Oh how I love a good face mask! I so wish I could get in on that sheet mask trend, but almost every one I’ve tried has caused a bad reaction. Thankfully, the regular old face masks have never done me wrong. And it’s a good thing too because there’s just something so relaxing about sitting in a hot bubble bath, face covered in your favorite face mask, hot cup of tea in hand, and a few candles to set the mood. One might think I’m a very relaxed person. But I’m the opposite. I’m a mess. But I sure do know how to pamper myself! So when these beautiful new masks from The Body Shop landed on my doorstep, I just couldn’t wait to give them a try!

The Body Shop British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask

The Body Shop British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask

British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask $28.00 – 100% Vegan British Rose Fresh Pluming Mask is a refreshing gel-textured mask that nourishes and hydrates your skin.

This is the first mask I tried. I can’t resist rose scented things. And this mask smells just like roses! But it’s not an overwhelming scent. It has a gel-like texture, but wasn’t messy to apply. I left the mask on for 10 minutes and washed it off. It didn’t cause any irritation. It left my skin feeling smooth and even gave me a bit of a glow. I think it even helped with some of the redness on my cheeks a bit because after a few minutes when I went to check on my skin it was pretty evened out. My cheeks were a little pink, but definitely not red.

The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask

The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask

Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask $28.00 – 100% Vegan Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask is a beautifying mud-textured exfoliating mask.

This mask is a little messier to work with, but it’s not so bad. It has a thick mud-like texture. When I applied it I noticed a bit of a cooling sensation. It was nice and refreshing. I only left this mask on for 5 minutes because it dried down rather quickly. Washing it off is where it gets messy. It gently exfoliated my skin leaving it feeling incredibly smooth. After 2 uses I have noticed way fewer blackheads around my nose. Scent-wise, it smells really nice. It kind of reminds me of Noxzema.

The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng and Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask

The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng and Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask

Chinese Ginseng And Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask $28.00 – The Chinese Ginseng And Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask is a creamy, facial exfoliating mask that brightens and revitalizes skin.

This mask has a really nice airy/whipped texture. I left this one on for 10 minutes and it never felt super dry or tightening. It gently exfoliated my skin and left it feeling super soft and clean. My skin felt so refreshed after using this mask. Scent-wise it was similar to the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask, but lighter.

These are some really amazing masks! If I had to choose a favorite I’d have to go with the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask. The other 2 are just as awesome, but I feel that I got more from this mask. All of them gently exfoliated my skin without causing any irritation. The packaging is also really nice. They all come in glass jars which could probably be reused once they’re empty. I also like that they come in single-use packets ($2.50). I’ll probably buy a few when I indulge in some of their holiday goodies. They have a British Rose Deluxe Gift Set that has my name all over it!

Have you tried any of these masks? What’s your favorite mask?

*I received these products complimentary. I was not paid or compensated in any way to write this review. All opinions are completely my own.
