Swatches

When I first saw the NYX In Your Element Shadow Palettes, I knew I was going to make one of them mine. It was difficult deciding which one since there weren’t many reviews floating around. There still aren’t! So I went to my local Ulta and swatched them personally. The Earth Palette was the only one that caught my eye. The Metal Palette was also very nice, but I need a few mattes to create a full look. So I settled on the Earth Palette.

The shimmery shades were really pigmented and very easy to work with. The mattes needed a bit of building up, but were still fairly easy to work with. The shades all applied much nicer on the lids than they did on my arm. My only issue is that I don’t think the shades play that nicely together. I used 4 different shades for this eye look and it looks like I maybe used 2? I guess the color combination is difficult to work with to begin with. But when I saw it I kind of grouped together the shades I thought would work together, but then it ended up looking like one single color. You can see what I mean below.

I still think it’s very pretty and I’ll probably get use of that green during the Holidays. I’ll definitely use a few of the shades, but I’ll have to reach for other shadows to create a full look. Overall, I’d have to say this is a bit of a miss for me. I’m just not completely sold on this palette.

Have you tried any of the NYX In Your Element Shadow Palettes? What are your thoughts?

Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick

Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick

Swatches: Tower Of Mauve, Crystal Mauve, Dashing Raspberry, Diva Red

I know I feature more liquid lipsticks than regular lipsticks on Midwest Glam. It’s no secret that they’re my favorites. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t whip out the old tubes from time to time. It’s especially comforting when they’re moisturizing and just glide on despite my lip’s current condition. Something you can’t really get from liquid lipsticks.

The Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipsticks are incredibly moisturizing! You can probably tell just how comfortable they are by looking at the swatches. The formula is enriched with vitamins A, C, and E. Aside from being moisturizing, they’re lightweight and make for a very comfortable wear. They’re also nicely pigmented. My swatches are all one swipe! They apply just as pigmented on the lips too. And believe me when I tell you that they just glide onto your lips!

My only real issue with these is the fragrance. There’s a subtle perfume scent that lingers for a bit. It’s definitely not the worst, but it might be bothersome for those who hate fragrance in their lip products. It’s not the most lasting either, but touching up is easy. You can see a few of these beauties in action below.

Overall, I’d have to say that these are really nice lipsticks. I’ll have to try and track down a few nude shades because I can definitely use a few comfortable nude lippies in my life.

Have you tried any of the Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipsticks? What lipstick are you loving at the moment?

*I received these products complimentary. I was not paid or compensated in any way to write this review. All opinions are completely my own.

Swatch

I first saw the Ghost Lights highlighter on Facebook sometime last month. I immediately ran out to Ulta to track it down. I had heard of Makeup Revolution before, but nothing about the brand really jumped out at me. Well, let me tell you, that has changed! Aside from this highlighter I purchased quite a few items from the brand. So be on the lookout for more budget friendly makeup reviews!

Obviously the skull is what caught my attention. There’s nothing special about the packaging, but I thought the skull was cool and would be fun for Halloween. It was also pretty fun to photograph. Ghost Lights is a baked highlighter. It’s pearly white with a soft pink shift. I found it to be surprisingly wearable. And not just for Halloween either! While I opted for a more subtle highlight, you can just as easily build this up for a more intense glow.

I think this is a really cute highlighter. I wish more brands did fun products like this for Halloween. You can see Ghost Lights in action below!
