Swatches: Take a Break, Issues, Centerfold, Slim Fit

Ok so remember when I was all ‘Death to ColourPop?’ Well, that lasted about 2 months. Just after I decided to ban them they came out with their new pressed shadows. My friend ordered a bunch and kept telling me how I had to stop being so stubborn and place an order. I was very tempted, but I stood my ground. Then their Valentine’s Day promo photos started making their rounds on Instagram and I knew I had to swallow my pride and get myself a little something. I did and have been ordering from them since. I still have to post about the Valentine’s Day stuff I got, but for now I want to talk about some of their other pressed shadows. Like the Blow Me Away Pressed Powder Shadow Palette. For the record, I do still hate them. But my love for makeup is much stronger. And that’s where I’m at right now.

Blow Me Away contains 4 pressed shadows in the shades Take a Break which is a duochrome peach with a subtle gold flip, Issues which is a matte pastel peach, Centerfold which is a matte vibrant coral, and Slim Fit which is a matte hot red coral. The palette itself is a cute white cardboard box with a slim window in the front revealing the shadows. The box is covered in lots of silver stars and tucked inside a bright orange cardboard sleeve.

I’m digging the fun, Summer friendly shades. They all applied and blended beautifully. Even the matte shades surprisingly. I did end up using another darker shade from another palette to balance out all of the coral and peach tones. But it all still makes for a super cute look.

I’d like to note that the shades Centerfold and Slim Fit are not intended for use in the immediate eye area. I wish I had known that before applying Slim Fit on my lower lash line. I just know some of that got in my eye. I’ll probably overthink that one of these nights I’m trying to go to sleep at a reasonable hour.

I’ll definitely purchase more of their pressed products. I’d like to see them offer some larger palettes so that we could build our own palettes in one place. In the meantime I got myself a MAC palette to store all of my ColourPop shadows. I can probably fill it up already. For $5 a pop you really can’t go wrong. Some shades are even on sale for $4! I’d definitely pop in and take a look. But be careful with their shipping. I guess with ColourPop it’s a risk we all take. One can only hope that they start putting more effort into their customer service in the near future.

You can see a look I created with the Blow Me Away Pressed Powder Shadow Palette below. I applied Take a Break on my lid, Centerfold in my inner crease, and Slim Fit in my outer crease and on my lower lash line (lightly).

Note: Remember when I talked about those beautiful It Cosmetics Confidence In Your Glow Palettes? I’m wearing Instant Nude Glow in the photos above! Those palettes are gorgeous and I highly suggest testing them out if you spot them at your local Ulta!

ColourPop now offers larger palettes! I’ve already ordered a few and will post about it soon!

    • Thank you, Shireen! I’m really digging their pressed shadows. And their lip products are still a fave of mine!

  2. Haha I love that you had to overcome your hatred of ColourPop to feed your makeup addiction! I understand it all too well! ;)
This quad looks so intense and bright, but still wearable. So weird that some shades aren’t meant for the eye area but they’re eye pans?

    • Hahaha glad to know I’m not alone! And it is weird! I remember hearing the same about an Urban Decay palette a while back. Well a few of the shades anyway. Like what else are we supposed to do with it? I guess they’re trying to tell you ‘Hey this is pretty so we’re sticking it in here, but maybe don’t get it in your eye cause it just might fall out mkay?’ Hah!

  3. You look Gorgeous, Lisa!! The shades are really very pretty but I am drooling over your lipstick shade :P

I want to place and order soon though, just waiting for the right special to come along. LOL…. Hope you are enjoying the new house by the way! Xo

    • Oh I know. I feel like every time I place an order they immediately come out with a deal I can’t pass up. Sometimes it pays to be patient.

And thank you, Julie! I’m definitely enjoying it. :)

  6. Loved the look you created and your blush and highlight is popping…loved overall makeup :)
